I’m welding when I hear my name being shouted from across the warehouse.

I turn my equipment off, lift my face shield, and turn toward the door. I assume it’s Agony coming back with lunch, so I’m surprised to see Legacy making his way toward me.

“Everything good?” I ask.

He doesn’t say whether it is or not. Instead, he starts telling me why he’s here. “Girls went shopping but didn’t have any way to pay and also didn’t know when to have the furniture delivered. We gotta go down to the store and handle that shit. You good to leave right now?”

Blinking, I clear my throat. Fuck. I sent her out today to handle shit with no money. “I totally fucking forget about money,” I say. “Agony is bringing me lunch, but yeah, I can go any time.”

“Your woman needs a phone, and your number, too.”

She does. He’s not wrong. “Yeah,” I mutter.

Legacy calls out my name, so I look up at him. I hadn’t realized that my attention had totally drifted off. He has his arms crossed over his chest, his chin dipped, and his gaze focused on mine. If I didn’t know him better, I would think he was pissed off, but I know he isn’t.

“Meant to get her a phone but got a ton of shit going on. Spaced,” I explain as I start putting my shit away. “Got the house shit happening, wedding, and forgot to handle the rest, even though I said I would.”

“Lot to do in a short amount of time,” he points out.

“Yeah,” I murmur. “Too much. Thinking I should have put off the wedding for a couple more weeks, but it’s too late now.”

“Did you really want to wait?”

My lips twitch into a smirk. “Nope.”

“Didn’t think so,” he says with a laugh just as Agony walks through the door with a couple of bags of burgers and fries from the burger truck a few miles away.

We sit down and grub on the burgers and fries. Luckily, Agony grabbed an extra one of each, because honestly, we never know which brother might stop by to work or just hang out, so we always get more food than we need. It always gets eaten eventually.

When we’re done, Legacy and I leave Agony to work. It doesn’t take us long to arrive at the furniture store. When the salespeople notice us, I watch two of them physically shrink back, while a couple of others’ faces turn white.

I make my way up to the counter, where I wait to be helped. It takes a few moments for someone to approach us. I assume they’re flipping coins to see who is going to get stuck with helping us, and the man who looks as if he’s about to cry as he reaches the other side of the counter is the one who lost.

“Can I help you?” he asks, his voice trembling a bit.

Placing my hands on the cool laminate countertop, I lean forward slightly. “My fiancée and her friend were in here. They started a furniture order. I’m here to pay for it and schedule the delivery.”

His eyes widen then flick down to my Devil’s Hellions patch before they shift back up to meet my own. “Yes, I remember them,” he murmurs. “Would you like to see what they chose?” he asks.

Legacy chuckles but doesn’t respond otherwise. Do I want to walk around and look at furniture? Fuck no. Arching a brow, I clear my throat before I speak. “They get the basics to fill a house?” I ask.

“For the most part. One bedroom set, one dining room set, and a sofa.”

That doesn’t sound like enough for the house I bought. I start to reach for my phone to call Henli and demand they come back here and find more shit to buy, but I decide against it. I don’t know why they didn’t pick out more.

Maybe they didn’t find anything else they liked, or maybe Piper isn’t ready to fill the rest of the rooms. Hell if I fucking know. I inhale a deep breath, let it out slowly, then take my wallet out of my pocket.

This is something I would typically use cash for, but I decide to charge it. I don’t give a fuck if this guy knows my name. They’re going to have my address soon, too, once I schedule the delivery.

Once everything is taken care of, paid for, and scheduled, I turn to face Legacy. “You know where they are?” I ask.

“They just finished lunch. Henli is taking Piper to the clubhouse and Bodhi back to take a nap. Long day for a little guy,” he murmurs.

“Guess I better get this credit card and phone situation handled,” I grunt.

He laughs as we leave the furniture store. Everything is set to be delivered on the day the house closes escrow, which is two days before the wedding. Which will be good. At least we’ll have a fucking bed to sleep in when we get married.

Climbing onto my bike, I start the engine, then give Legacy a wave as I head straight toward the cellphone store. Fucking hell, I never thought I would be buying a phone for my wife, mainly because I assumed I would never have a wife.
