"I love you," I said between kisses as I enjoyed her hands fumbling with my wet leather shirt and pants to pull them off my body.

"I love you too," she breathed into my ear, sending shivers of pleasure down my spine.

I pulled my soaked leather pants off and threw them on the floor, not caring about the puddles we created, not even when the water started to become choppy and spill over.

She climbed on my lap, and I fed my cock into her ready pussy. When I was fully sheathed inside her, she let her head fall back with an expression of ecstasy on her beautiful face. Her exposed neck called to me, and I latched on, sucked on the tender flesh there and enjoyed her mewls of pleasure. I didn't think I would ever get enough of kissing her flesh, exploring her.

I slowly dipped my head lower, kissing a trail down her clavicle and sternum until I reached her beckoning breasts. I cupped one and closed my lips around the erect nipple of her other. She rose and lowered herself up and down my cock until I couldn't take the sweet torture any longer and stood up.

Her legs automatically clamped around my waist, just as her arms locked around my neck. My hands supported her ass as I carried her out of the tub. My intended destination was our bedroom, but she pushed herself up and down my cock and we barely made it to the wall. With her back against it, I shifted her so I could roll my hips and hit her sweet spot.

With a cry she came, and her milking walls took me with her.

Back in our bedroom, we made love again, but I sensed that no matter how hard I tried, I wasn't able to allay her worries. And in all honesty, neither could I fully shed mine. War was never pleasant. It didn't matter how much my blood sang at the prospect of a good battle, the idea of her and I being separated for any amount of time sat ill with me.

Morning came and brought a surprise as the lookouts spotted a large army coming our way.

"That's an entire war party," Cassair observed.

I agreed with him. "I see the Khazar's banner," I mumbled. "And the banners of the Warlords of Dokkymburg and Wyrkymburg." It was unfathomable that my messengers would have reached the Khazar already and even more improbable that he would have assembled such a force and personally come during the cold season.

"Something must have happened," I voiced my concerns. "Open the gates and prepare guestrooms. Have the great hall heated and make room in the stalls," I ordered the officers always lingering about. "And inform Lady Alahna that we have guests."

As the army drew closer, I noticed their bedraggled appearance. Wounded were transported on stretchers and my stomach knotted. Had they already encountered the human threat?

I rushed down the battlement to greet my khazar in the courtyard, as well as Kendryx and Vandor, the warlords of Dokkymburg and Wyrkymburg, respectively.

To my surprise, Vandor wasn't sitting alone on his warhorse. In his arms he held a human kallini, who, even more surprisingly, in turn held a baby pressed to her chest.

"Oh dear gods, come," Alahna cried out, who came rushing out of the stronghold, straight for the human kallini.

Vandor helped her out of the saddle. "She needs a warm bath," he said between pressed teeth, looking so overwrought that I didn't even bristle at him giving my czira orders.

"Oh you poor thing, you look frozen. Come, we will get you and the babe warmed up in no time," Alahna cooed, waving the kallini inside.

"I'm Alahna, Warlord Brogan's mate," Alahna introduced herself.

"Damaris." The other human kallini responded with a tired smile.

"What happened?" I asked, bowing to Gryck.

He clapped me on the shoulder. "I'm frozen. Invite us in, and I will tell you all the gory details."

Soon we stood in the warm great hall. I noticed Vandor's furtive glances down the hallways and guessed at the source of his concern. "Don't worry, my lady will take good care of yours."

"You took a human kallini as your lady?" Vandor inquired.

"And it seems so did you," I retorted and asked again, "What happened?"

"Fionbyr wasn't happy about certain laws our khazar put in place to protect human interests and pushed a nonexistent claim to be our khazar. Grobhan joined in to claim a human settlement as his and we came to blows," Vandor spat, giving me what I guessed to be the abbreviated version of events. Rumors of battles between our khazar's forces and Fionbyr's had reached my ears, but since nobody had sent for enforcements from me, I had thought the matter settled.

I drew in my eyebrows. "Then you didn't come because of my messengers?"

"We came because your stronghold was the closest in this lousy weather," Gryck explained, joining our conversation. "What messengers?"

"Ah, Khazar Gryck, you came posthaste!" King Uthar chose this moment to make an appearance.

Predictably, all hands moved to the hilts of their swords at the sight of our archenemy.
