Stepping through the door and into the studio, Gianna took the guest chair, placed her headset on and received the complimentary greeting from Toni. The fast-paced energy of live radio didn’t bother Gianna, but something about this interview, and Sunny’s text message, felt off. They’d had a serious argument before he left for Los Angeles earlier and she’d hoped he wanted to apologize. That wasn’t like him though. His apologies usually came days later, if at all.

“Thank you for being here today, Gianna,” Toni’s boisterous introduction broke through Gianna’s murky thoughts. “All our fans out there want to know what it’s like to have delicious Sunny Banks as a fiancé?”

“Thank you for having me. It’s an adventure to say the least.”

“I imagine it is.” Toni’s top lip curled slightly.

“Your podcast, Mosley Mentality, has quite a few followers. You talk candidly about your relationship, as well as giving advice to listeners who are also struggling with their partners. Although the show is a bit…fluff, you do have guests on occasion that give useful professional tips. For instance, just a few weeks ago you had a private investigator who offered advice on tracking a cheating partner’s activities. Let me just get right down to the nitty gritty, shall we? Have you traced Sunny’s activities?”

Gianna shifted her weight in the chair that suddenly felt like she was sitting on rocks. “No, I haven’t, although I haven’t suspected him of cheating.”

“I hear you.” Toni fluttered her long lashes. “Relationships can be difficult to navigate, especially when you are in the public eye. What do you think is one of the most important qualities couples should have?”

“There are many that are important, of course, but if I had to choose just one, I’d say trust.”

Toni nodded. “I agree with you and that’s why we have another guest joining us. Your assistant, Vivien, is here. Can we have her join us?” Toni said to her producer.

Gianna whipped her head up as the tall blonde came sweeping into the room, keeping her gaze downward as she took the available seat next to a confused Gianna.

“You do know Vivien, right?” Toni asked Gianna.

“Yes, I know her.”

Her assistant finally acknowledged Gianna with a tight smile. The air turned stagnate.

Toni swiped her gaze between Gianna and Vivien, letting out a faint snicker. “Vivien asked if she could come today because she has a secret that she’s been keeping from you. Gianna, can you and Vivien turn to each other so she can confess something that’s been weighing heavily on her shoulders.”

The chair creaked as Gianna swiveled to face the woman who’d worked as her assistant for over three years. “What do you have to say, Viv?” Was she quitting? Her contract wasn’t up for another six months.

“You’re a great boss, Gi. One of the best.” Vivien glanced down at her clasped hands in her lap then gave a delicate sniffle.

“And you two are friends also, right?” Toni asked.

“Y-yes. She’s my friend too.” Vivien reached for a tissue and patted her bottom lashes dramatically.

“Without further ado, since we are onliveradio, tell Gianna what you’ve been keeping a secret.”

“Okay. Well, here goes.” Vivien inhaled deeply, looking like she might get sick. “I just need to blurt it out. Sunny and I are having an affair. We’ve been seeing each other for almost seven months. He no longer loves you, Gi, and he wants to be with me.”

Gianna laughed, but Vivien’s frown deepened. “Is this a joke? This has to be a joke.” She glanced at Toni who didn’t show any remorse for her role in the ambush. “What? I—?”

“I’m sorry, Gianna. We don’t have jokes on this show,” Toni said. “I know it’s difficult but what would you like to say to Vivien?”

“Y-you’ve been having sex with Sunny?” The words hurt her throat.

“Well, yeah.” Vivien gave a small laugh then. All signs of tears were gone, exchanged for a grin.

“For listeners that might be tuning in late, we have popular relationship influencer, Gianna Mosley, here in the studio with us. We just learned that her assistant, Vivien, has been having an affair with Gianna’s fiancé, MLB phenom, Sunny Banks.” Toni’s shrewd eyes were back on Gianna. “Vivien told my producer that she and Sunny have been having sex in your home, on your couch, and even in your bed. She also divulged that Sunny has a birthmark in the shape of a dragonfly on his inner thigh. Is this true?”

“Vivien…?” Gianna couldn’t begin to process what she just heard.

“Is that true, Gianna?”

She blinked at the host. “What?”

“That Sunny has a birthmark shaped like a dragonfly?” Toni gave an over-exaggerated sigh of concern.

Feeling like she’d been bowled over by a wrecking ball, she numbly answered, “Yes, but I don’t see the relevance—”
