He leaves us, going to find Parker’s parents.

Just as he leaves, Will walks up to us. He has a huge grin on his face.

“I told you that you didn’t have to worry about being sent away,” he says. “Congratulations.”

I give him a hug. “Thanks. For everything. Especially yesterday.”

He stiffens but eventually hugs me back. “I’m happy for you.”

I pull back and Parker slips his arm around me again, tucking me into his side. It’s like I’ve always belonged here.

After that, Will makes his way toward Blaine, leaving Parker and me alone. I notice everybody is watching us, but they’re giving us privacy for the most part.

“What happens now?” I ask.

Parker raises an eyebrow at me. “What do you mean?”

“With us. With the pack. Withme. Take your pick. Do we try to figure out what I am? And how would we even do that?”

“You’re thinking too much.” Parker gently traces his fingers over my cheek, tucking a piece of hair behind my ear. “With us, this is just the beginning. With the pack, you’ll get to know them over time. Don’t worry about that. But with you, don’t stress. We will figure out what you are. But until then, let’s take it one day at a time.”

I take a deep breath.

I can do that.

When Dad first moved me here, I didn’t think it would be any different than New York. Maybe quieter, but I never imagined making friends. And I definitely never imagined meeting Parker. But here, I have a family. I have everything I’ve ever wanted.

Maybe I’m not any closer to getting my questions answered about my powers and what I am, but Parker is right. We have to take things as they come. We’ll figure out what I am eventually. Until then, I am going to enjoy every single moment that I have.

Parker and I can finally be together. That is all that matters.

The end.
