“Well, it is real.”

He pulls me closer to him, gently pressing his lips against mine. He pulls back much too quickly. “This is the most real thing I’ve ever felt. I’m so glad that you’re mine, Henley Stone.”

My heart races. “I’m so glad Will forced me to come over here.”

Parker grins. “I was minutes away from going to your house. I was going to tell you that I don’t care if we were bonded or not, I wanted to be with you. But now… well, we are bonded.”

I still don’t understand everything about the mate bond, but I’m excited to learn.

I’m just glad Parker is mine. Officially.

Something worth celebrating.

When Parker pulls me into his dad’s office, Mr. Throne knows right away.

“You’re mates.”

Parker beams, looking from me to his dad. “Yes.”

Mr. Thorne stands from his desk, coming around to our side. “Congratulations.” He gives each of us a hug.

A moment later, Mrs. Thorne comes into the room. She’s ecstatic, giving each of us quite a few hugs. And she proclaims that there should be a celebration, then she runs from the room.

I look at Parker.

He simply puts his arm around me. “The mate bond is something worth celebrating.”

The next day, I find myself at the Throne residence again.

Blaine is the first to arrive for the ‘celebration.’ Apparently it’s tradition to celebrate when a wolf shifter meets their soulmate.

Despite the fact that I’m holding hands with Parker, Blaine still gives me a hug. Parker never lets go of my hand and growls at Blaine when he thinks the hug has gone on too long.

Blaine smirks as he pulls back. “I guess I can’t flirt with you anymore, can I Vixen?”

Parker pulls me closer to his side. “No flirting with my soulmate.”

As more people arrive, Parker introduces me to people. I know I won’t be remembering any of their names, but hopefully I will get to know people over time.

When my dad shows up, I’m surprised to see him. I wanted to tell him last night, about the bond, but he never came home.

“I hear congratulations are in order.” Dad gives me a hug first, then he hugs Parker.

“I wanted to be the one to tell you.” I rock up onto the tips of my toes. “It makes sense now, why I couldn’t seem to get over my crush on Parker.”

“I’m proud of you.” Dad turns to Parker. “You and my daughter may be soulmates, but you will be following the rules until the mate bond is complete.” Dad looks between Parker and me. “You two will not be alone at the house when I’m not there. No closed bedroom doors. No staying out late.”

“Dad,” I complain, my face growing warm.

Parker simply nods at my dad. “I promise to be respectful. I love your daughter, and I know the rules. You can trust me, Mr. Stone.”

“It’s Daniel,” Dad says. “We’ll be family soon.”

Parker’s grin widens. “You raised an incredible daughter. Thank you for bringing her here. I hope you will stay in the pack. I know you don’t like hanging out with everybody, but you belong here.”

Dad clears his throat. “I better go speak to Adam and Amanda.”
