TASHA

Sandhya’s phone rang, and a smile spread over her face when she glanced at it.

“It’s DV,” she said gleefully. “Should I answer it? I can invite him to join us.”

No! If he came here, she would kill him in front of me just to hurt me. Please, God, no!

I didn’t doubt that she could overpower even DV, for Sandhya’s madness gave her a titan’s strength. If she could hang a fully grown man from the ceiling fan, she could do anything.

For a minute, she seemed to dither, her finger hovering over the screen. I had never prayed as hard as I prayed at that moment. Then, she set the phone aside with a sly grin.

“No, I don’t want to kill him yet. I have plans for your sexy Maharaja. After all, he’s going to need a shoulder to grieve on, and who better than his dead girlfriend’s best friend?”

She took one step closer to me, and I started talking fast.

“You still haven’t told me what you did to Vishal. And what was all the screaming about? His neighbour’s child heard him yelling at someone, but didn’t hear any reply,” I babbled.

“Of course, she didn’t hear any reply. I wasn’t a fool to draw attention to myself. I let him scream his heart out as I poured him a drink. My special cocktail of alcohol and barbiturates. He was so busy yelling at me that he didn’t even see it coming.”

“Why did he drink it? Didn’t he know you couldn’t be trusted?”

Sandhya made a comical face.

“Yeah, he was dumb. Like really dumb. He still thought I was his friend, even though he was mad at me for getting him into trouble. That drink was supposed to make up for all the trouble. I told him to drink up before he called the cops. That drink knocked him out, and I got to work stringing him up.”

“I can’t believe you did that yourself,” I began.

Sandhya wagged a finger in my face.

“Careful, Tasha. Don’t piss off the woman who can blind you in one move. But you’re right. It wasn’t easy to pull him up to the top, but I was determined to punish him for standing up to me. Who did the little worm think he was? As if anyone would believe his word over mine,” she scoffed, before she went on with the tale. It was almost as if she was eager to narrate her story. Like she was some kind of heroine.

“Anyway, after he died, I stuck your photographs on the wall to make it look like he was obsessed with you. But he wasn’t. Not really. He was only obsessed with the fact that no girl was willing to have sex with him. How funny is that?” she asked with a cruel laugh.

She was pure evil, I realised. How could I have been friends with this woman?

She was still laughing when she came up to me.

But, I was prepared. I had drawn my legs up to my chest, and when she came close to me, I kicked her in the chest with both my legs. Hard enough to send her flying across the room.

Sandhya scrambled to her feet and strode over to me with a feral look on her face.

She grabbed me by the hair and slammed my head into the wall hard. My vision started going black, but I held on. She raised her hand to slam the needle of the syringe into the side of my neck, but I body-slammed her as much as I could with my hands still tied to the window. She went down and I tried to pin her down with my body. But the mad bitch was stronger than me. With Amazonian strength, she pushed me off.

By now, she was growling like an animal as I tried to dodge the fucking needle that crept closer to me.

“Hold still, you stupid cunt,” she hissed.

As. If.

I struggled even harder, biting down on her arm when it came close to my face. She screamed in pain and surprise and backed away as she rubbed her arm.

“I’m so going to enjoy hurting you,” she said, setting the syringe on the coffee table and reaching for her gardening shears.

Just then, the door slammed open and Freddy stood there, staring at us in surprise.

“What the hell is going on here?” he roared. “Sandhya, put those shears down before you hurt someone.”
