Straightening my jacket,I glance over at Audrey before putting my hand on her back and leading her into the warehouse. The ground is uneven, and even though I despise the boots she has on, they are probably for the best with the pits and puddles left by the rain the other day. When my fingers curl into her dress, she doesn’t even tense this time, and satisfaction spreads through my chest.

I’ve found a sort of enjoyment in the omega. Caring for her does something to me. The more I do, the more I want to do. It is like an obsession. And when she accepts it without question. God, that really presses my buttons.

“Princess, while we are here, remember your safe word, okay?”

“Safe word?” she asks, looking at me with her wide brown eyes.

“Yeah, tell me it, so I know you remember.”

She licks her lips as her cheeks turn pink. And I know she is remembering what I am. “Mango,” she breathes without looking at me.

“Good girl.”

She tenses beneath my touch before relaxing again. “So do I call you daddy?”

The question is unexpected, and I shoot Felix a look when he chokes on a laugh. At least Dean had left us already. I poke my tongue into my cheek as I think of my response.

“It depends on how you want tonight to go,” I say. It is meant to sound like a threat, but that is not how it comes out. No, I mutter the words as a purr fucking rumbles in my chest.

“Okay, Daddy,” she says with a smirk.

My fingers tighten on her back as I tug her closer to me. “Stay close.”

With her smelling like us, there is very little danger to her tonight, but I will not admit that out loud.

“Fight is soon,” Felix says, and he practically bounds over the gravel to the entrance.

I am positive he enjoys watching Saint fight as much as Saint loves to beat people into the ground. When Audrey attempts to pick up her pace to follow him, I curl my fingers around her side and pull her into mine.

“We have a reserved spot, no rush.”

“You come here a lot?”

I shrug, her body rubbing against mine as I do. “Saint gets an itch every once in a while. And this is where he made most of his money, so for him, it is like coming home.”

She shivers and hugs herself. “Aren’t you afraid he will get hurt?”

“It is always a possibility. He pushes it too far, and we have had a few visits to the hospital from his fights. But he’s good, and he promised three fights and done tonight.”

Her eyes go wide again, an innocence in their depths that is tinged with darkness. She has seen things. Bad things. Yet, she is still innocent in ways I want to protect.

I tuck her head under my chin and pull her further into my chest, making it harder for both of us to walk, but I don’t care. It is a need to have her close. And she fits so nicely against me.

Eyes track our path, and I know that news will travel fast aboutAustin Zade and the omega he brought. And that was part of the plan, right? So why does it make me want to hide her away from all the other alphas watching her? As if they would swoop in and take her from me. A growl builds in my chest at the thought, and she lifts her head to look at me.

“You okay?”

“Perfect,” I say. Then I lift her into my arms, cradling her against my chest in a way my inner alpha is demanding. She squeals and grabs hold of my neck instead of fighting me.

“I can walk.”

I purr. “But I want to carry you.”

“Austin, I can walk.”

“It’s daddy, and I’m going to carry my princess, my little omega.” If my voice came out a bit gruff, I’m ignoring it.

I expect her to fight me, so when she settles her head onto my shoulder, one arm wrapped securely around my neck and the other laying against my chest, I want to shout to the entire room that she submitted. Threading through the crowd and ignoring the looks, too, really relishing in them, if I’m honest. I want them to see that she is mine. At least for tonight.
