“You're delusional, Bas. But I swear to God, if you hurt any one of them, I will kill you. I will make you wish you were never born.”

He laughs again. “Oh, sweet Abigail. If I can’t have you, no one will. I am fully prepared to kill us both tonight so we can spend forever together.” He pulls out his gun and places it to my temple.

“Your brains splattered all over the wall mixed with mine; imagine how beautiful that will be.”

I push my head into the gun, forcing it away from me. “Get that thing away from me, asshole.” I seethe.

“You didn't seem to mind it when I was fucking you with it,” he says as he turns his body away from me and over to a workbench that has my clutch on it.

“What are you talking about, Bas?”

“I’m talking about how I snuck into your room after forcing you to go to sleep, and then I fucked you with my gun and you loved it.”

He is fucking crazy!

“How else did you think you got that beautiful crimson mark on your skin?” His eyes are between my legs, and I try to close them, but they are tied to the chair I am in.

“You’re a psychopath,” I scream.

“You call me that, but aren’t all monsters good at some point? I mean, monsters are made, after all.”

I try to look around the room for a way out, something to help me escape this hell, but I see nothing.

Plan B.

“Fine, what’s your master plan, Bas? If I am going to die tonight, then I think I should know what it is I am dying for.”

He walks back over to me, placing a kiss on my forehead, and I shudder under his touch.

“If I have it my way, you will not die tonight, but someone will. My vengeance demands blood. Nevertheless, I will entertain your question. I plan on taking you with me, my little canary. I will take you, and you will learn to love me. You will see what I have known all these years that we are bound to be, mated, fated, call it what you will, but you are meant for me, and I am for you. You belong to me.”

“I belong to no one,” I say.

“Wrong.” He grabs my phone from my purse and types in my code.

“How do you…” I try to ask, but he puts a finger in the air, telling me to be quiet.

“He will be here in half an hour. Then, the real fun can begin. But not before I take what is mine,” he says.

“Who? What did you do?” I ask as he comes over to me, pulling out a knife, now standing behind me.

Running the blade down my cheek. “So many questions. I’d rather hear you sing.”

He takes the blade and runs it along my chest, slitting open my skin, blood running down into my satin dress. I cry out into the night, but no one can hear me, only Sebastian. Only my demons who have come to claim my soul.

“I didn’t see her,” Colin says.

Ryan pulls out his phone and calls her but says, “Her phone is off.”

This cannot be happening. I knew tonight we should have stayed in. I warned her that going out was a bad idea. But does she listen to me? No. And now she’s missing.

“You two search the barn. I’ll keep looking out here. Someone had to have seen something. Ask everyone,” I demand.
