“Lawrence said he would make you think Della was to blame.”

“He tried, and it nearly worked,” Kylian says. “When we eventually used our brains, we figured out he was playing us.”

“We?”Cian emphasizes.

“Fuck off,” Kylian grumbles, but I can tell he doesn’t mean it.

My eyes water all over again, so I miss most of Rune shrugging out of his coat and draping the delicious-smelling fabric around my shoulders. “Time to go.”

Not yet. There’s something I need to do first.

I grip the front of Rune’s shirt and pull him close. I kiss him on the lips, the way I wanted to before Lawrence had his servant kidnap me. The way I need to with every fiber of my body.

Rune groans in the back of his throat, slants his head, and starts to deepen the kiss when the full force of his alpha pheromones hits me like a freight train.

I tighten my grip on his shirt, whimper, and lean into his kiss as I frantically rub my pussy on his cock, craving more than his kiss.

He grasps my arms and pulls me away, his eyes peering deep into mine before he curses. “Shit. Her pupils are dilated. Time to go.”

I lean toward Rune. “I don’t want to go anywhere. Kiss me.”

He dodges my kiss, frames my face with both hands, and holds me still. “Cher, your trust in me—in all of us—is important. We do this the right way. And that right way is not here.”

“Definitely not,” Cian says tightly.

When I peer over my shoulder at him, he’s eyeing the tray of sex toys. The whip in particular. Seeing it, and conscious I could’ve been facing down an alpha who wouldn’t have hesitated to use it on me, cools some of the burn between my thighs. Not all, but some.

Rune kisses my forehead and scoops me into his arms. “Ky, I’m gonna need you to—”

“On it,” Kylian interrupts. “Let’s get out of here.”

And I watch, my eyes widening as a small black gun jumps into Kylian’s hands. I don’t know where he pulled it from, but he looks like he knows how to handle it. Efficiently.

Rune lifts me and is heading toward Kylian at the door as Cian follows a step behind when I remember something important. “Wait! We can’t leave yet.”

Kylian halts before he can take a step out into the hallway, angling his head back to me. “Why not?”

I clear my throat. “There was another omega where they were keeping me before. I didn’t see or hear anyone else, but we have to get her out.”

Kylian’s eyes sharpen. “Another omega?”

I nod. “Resa. She’s pregnant. She said they were going to trade her.”

I’ve never seen Kylian’s face so blank. “They’re trading a pregnant omega like a trading card?”

I nod.

“Which way? Do you remember?” he asks.

I think back. “A long white hallway. It was the door right at the end of it, and the guy needed a keycard to open it.”

“I saw it,” Cian says from behind me. “Left, Ky.”

Kylian nods and turns to leave.

“What about the keycard?” I frown.

“I wouldn’t worry about that, cher. Ky will figure something out,” Rune assures me.
