I turned on my heel and tossed my hair over my shoulder, digging into the ground with each step away from his front door, resisting the reflex to tug at my too-short shorts, where my ass cheeks were currently launching their own escape.

I could imagine the scene before him, a thin, five-foot-four woman with a tangled mess of brown hair storming down the front lawn of his mansion.

“I won’t be taking them down.”

I turned around, wondering if my face was as red as it felt.

“You cannot put cameras on my private property without my consent.”

“Actually, it’smyprivate property. I own the cottage. You’re the tenant. And as I’m sure you’ll read in the rental agreement that you signed, I have the right to install a security system so long as that system doesn’t breach the privacy inside the dwelling.”

Son of a…

I would absolutely read that rental agreement much closer when I got home. Even if that clause was in the contract, Hunter might think he won here, but I knew exactly what I would do next.

CHAPTER12

Hunter

“Sir, we have a problem,” my lead security officer said as soon as I answered my phone. Located at an off-site location, he kept an eye on my estate, mostly, but also monitored threats that came up from enemies I’d sometimes make as a prosecutor. But last night, I’d given him a new task. “Have you looked at the security footage recently?”

I tightened the towel around my waist, having just finished showering when my phone had gone off. During which I couldn’t stop grinning from my earlier interaction with that feisty spitfire Luna. Damn, that woman was fine when she was mad.

“Not for an hour or so. Why?”

The cameras outside Luna’s cottage also came with an alarm system that would get triggered if anyone broke into her house. Which had created a complication that we had to work around.

Normally, when a person entered their home armed with a security system, they would have to punch in a code so it would deactivate that alarm within thirty seconds. But having that code meant the person could alsodeactivatesaid system. Perpetually.

Luna wouldn’t be cooperative, so I gave my team the task of handling the logistics. The security system would remain armed at all times, which meant anytime a door or window was opened, my security team had to ensure it wasn’t a break-in or actual threat—at which time they’d enter the code to cancel the cavalry.

Rinse. Repeat.

We’d already tested the system earlier today, and it was working great. Giving me a small sense of peace that Luna was protected.

“You might want to take a look, sir. Let us know how you’d like to proceed.”

I walked into my bedroom and tossed on a pair of boxer briefs and shorts, checking the security cameras on my flat screen.

But the footage was…

What in the actual hell was I looking at? Was that anass crack? I flipped through the different cameras, but they were all the same—two slightly blurry butt cheeks, each with its own crack.

Son of a bitch.

I rushed out of my house, making a beeline for that little cottage.

Looking up at the security cameras, I clenched my fists.

Little trolls dangled from a string in front of them, their hair taped against the rim so that their little bare asses were pressed against the camera lenses.

I walked up to Luna’s front door and swung my fist to pound on it, but she opened the door mid-swing, making me fall forward slightly. Just like she’d done when she’d stomped to my place.

When I pushed myself upright—without knocking her fragile frame over—I nearly forgot what I’d come here to say. She was dressed in a tank top, no bra, with her nipples pressing against the fabric. She probably knew it would distract me from my mission and unleash images of throwing her to the ground and releasing my anger until she screamed my name.

I had to force myself to concentrate, which further aggravated me.

“What the hell?” I pointed to a security camera.
