I glance at her with hers wrapped around her, Tally too, while the four of us are barely dressed.

“This better be good,” Oakley mutters as Abi leads us toward where we all park our cars.

Elliot moves faster, his concern for his baby getting the better of him. My curiosity burns red hot, and I keep up pace with him until we burst through the trees.

“What the actual fuck?” I bellow as our cars appear before us.

The usually pristine black paint is covered in graffiti.

“Ruling All Hallows’ with their daddy’s trust funds, giant egos and tiny dicks,” Liv reads aloud, barely containing her amusement as if the rest of us are incapable of doing it ourselves.

“Who the fuck did this?” Elliot seethes quietly while Oak and Reese race around to the front of the cars.

“They don’t even look like us,” Oak barks, making Liv and Tally rush around to see what he’s talking about.

“Oh my God,” Liv roars in amusement. “They’re amazing.”

“My nose is not that big, and you know it.”

Following their lead, Elliot and I come to stand in front of our vandalised cars.

“Whoever it is is a fucking idiot because they got the wrong cars,” I say as my heart pounds and the need for vengeance burns through me as I stare at what is obviously meant to be a caricature of me on the bonnet of Elliot’s Aston Martin.

The air crackles around the four of us while Liv and Tally laugh and Abi chews nervously on her fingers.

“Find out who the fuck did this. I want them,” Elliot demands.

“You got it,” Reese agrees, his entire body vibrating with anger.

“And call the first years. They’re washing this shit off.”

Without another word or even a glance in our direction, he takes off. The red haze of anger that surrounds him quickly following.

“I-is he okay?” Abi whispers, staring after him as if she wants to follow.

My lips part to suggest she go after him but Reese’s eyes meet mine and he shakes his head, stopping me.

“Yeah, he’ll be fine. Just needs to cool off. Seriously, though. Who the fuck would be brave enough to do this?”

“Huxton?” Liv asks, hesitant to mention our local rival team.

“Nah, they went to ground after all that shit with Dale.”

“Aren’t you playing them again in a couple of weeks?” Tally asks.

The three of us look at each other, silently discussing if the girls are right. But while it makes sense. I don’t think this has anything to do with the Huxton Harriers. I think it’s closer to home.

“Are you really going to make the year twelves clean all this off?” Abi asks innocently.

“Hell, yeah,” Oak agrees. “They haven’t had any tasks yet this year. Maybe we make them do it with their tongues.”

“You’re a… a—”

“Sick fuck,” Liv offers when Tally's good side gets the better of her.

“Idiot,” she settles on making everyone laugh.

Everyone but me.
