“Didn’t think you dated,” Ellis teases.
“I’m happy to break my rules for a girl this beautiful,” he says, winking at Daisy and making her laugh.
Fuck. Who knew such cold-hearted gangsters could make a little girl melt so easily?
“Come on, baby,” JD says, pressing a hand to the small of my back. “Time to take this little munchkin home.”

Iclimb into the back of the car behind Alana and Daisy, and no sooner have we sat down, does Daisy wiggle until Alana releases her so she can sit on my lap.
“You’re going to have issues with that kid,” Devin says from the driver’s seat as Reid drops in beside him with Mav on Alana’s other side after loading Kurt into the trunk none too gently if the screaming was anything to go by.
“How’s that?” Mav asks.
“She’s already got a soft spot for the bad boys.”
“Girls got taste,” Alana says.
Devin scoffs, “Did you see the way she gazed at Ezra? That ain’t taste.”
“She’s three. She was just intrigued by the tattoos,” Alana argues.
“Aren’t they all,” Devin mutters before taking off like a race car driver.
Ezra follows behind, although when Devin takes a turn that will lead us back to the manor, they go in the opposite direction.
“Where fuck are they going?” Reid mutters, looking over his shoulder as if their taillights will give him all the answers.
“Don’t worry, we’re not lucky enough to lose them,” Devin sighs.
Reid shakes his head at his little brother but doesn’t respond.
I’m too distracted by the little girl who curls up against my chest to pay them much more attention.
It’s late. I’m sure too late for an almost four-year-old.
Lifting my hand, I stroke her head.
“Are you sleepy, baby girl?” I whisper.
She whimpers against me.
“Here,” Mav says after pulling his hoodie off and passing it over. “Keep her warm.”
Alana watches me with big, mesmerized eyes as I wrap Daisy in the warm fabric.
As Daisy snuggles closer, Alana does too, resting her head against my shoulder.
“You okay, Dove?”
Her heavy sigh is all the answer I need.
Pressing a kiss to her head, I fall silent with everyone else.
