“Be with my fucking wife? I’d rather drink myself to death,” I spit out. “If that’s all you wanted to say, leave.” I point to the door hating myself a bit more than I did ten minutes ago and grab a glass of scotch to numb those stupid feelings inside.

“Un-fucking-believeable,” Lexi says and storms out.

A minute later, she is back, flying through my door like the wildcat she is.

My God, does she have to be this beautiful? This perfect? Must I be this big of an asshole?

“No, you know what? Fuck you, Landon Locke. I can’t believe I cared enough to come back here and see if you are still alive after what you’ve done to me. And you have the nerve to talk to me like that?” Lexi is seething with rage.

Good. Let her hate me. I deserve every drop. I don’t respond to her; instead, I lift the glass to my lips and try to take a sip.

Try, because Lexi smacks it out of my hand, sending it crashing down on the floor.

“Stop drinking and take care of your own damn company! Goodbye, Landon. This was the last time I allowed myself to be pathetic for you.” And just like a dream, she is gone. So is the rest of the bottle of scotch I had on my desk.

I can’t stop, Lexi, because if I stop, I will start feeling, and we can’t have that.

“You fucking asshole. I told you not to hurt her, didn’t I?” A fist connects with my jaw as soon as I lift my head up to see who dares to come into my office again, and a crunching noise echoes through the room. I straighten up and wipe the streak of blood on the side of my mouth.

Of course, it’s him.

Julius Winters standing by my desk in all his leathery glory.

“I’m surprised it took you a whole week to come to find me.” Clearly, I have a death wish because I felt like antagonizing the daredevil biker who is obviously here to make me hurt.

“Oh, I’d come right away if those two idiots wouldn’t be hiding the truth from me this long,” he says and slams his fist into my stomach, sending me to my knees.

“Get the fuck out of here,” I manage to say, but Julius doesn’t budge an inch, only glares at me and sends another punch to my jaw.

“You think I wanted to hurt her? You think it was my intention?” I grid out through clenched teeth, but he hits me again without flinching.

“I can’t believe this. I can’t believe you are this dumb! How could you lie to her? And make a dirty little secret out of Lexi?” He grids out.

“Tell me something I don’t yet know.” I haven’t had a drink today and regret it immensely at this moment. “Come on, keep hitting me!” I yell out loud enough for everyone at Fashion Linc to hear. “Yeah, I’m an asshole. I lied and hid the ugly truth from her. So come on, hit me!”

“You will lose her. Is that what you want?”

“Look who’s a dumbass now. In case you haven’t noticed, I already lost her.” Julius only shakes his head and sits at one of my desk's chairs. “Sure, make yourself at home, why don’t you,” I say surly.

“Sit the fuck down; I need to rearrange your brain for a difference.” Reluctantly I sit down and reach for my bottle. For the only friend I have left, and I don’t get to enjoy it because Julius snatches it away.

“No more drinking.”

“Talk to the finger, asshole,” I flash him the middle one and take out another bottle from my desk, which he snatches again. “Damn it, give that back!”

“I said, No. More. Drinking.”

“What is it to you? You don’t even like me. Shouldn’t you be happy that I’m out of Lexi’s life now?”

Julius snarls at me. “I wish! But my idiot friend loves your dumb ass, and I won’t let her suffer, so you will sober up and crawl on your knees in circles around her until she forgives you.” He draws a hand through his dark hair as if we are annoying children he has to deal with.

“Haven’t you heard? I am married,” I say with sarcasm.

If I thought Julius would have a reaction, it sure as hell wasn’t this one. He snorts, “Ha, you think I’ll be all righteous and spank your butt for cheating on your wife?” He tips his head back withlaughter. “I don’t give a damn! Now, fix it with Lexi because whatever your marriage status says, you are in love with my friend, not anyone else.” I narrow my eyes at this bold guy, and for the first time since I met him, I can confidently say that I like him.

“Look, I’m sure you have your own story, we all do, but girls like my Katerina and your Lexi don’t happen twice. If you don’t seize your chance, someone else will. Trust me, I’m speaking from experience.” He snarls at his own memory.
