“Seems like we’re in the same boat.”

“Is that something you can talk about?” Matt asked.

“Well since I thought this was a job reality show, I should feel free to talk about it. I got my veterinary license last year and I’ve yet to use it. I worked at a vet clinic in Denver, but that’s not my real passion. I want to work with horses…” Evie paused as Matt smiled broadly. “I’ve already shared all of this with you.”

“Yes, you have.”

“Then why did you ask me again?”

“Because you are too beautiful, and I love watching you talk about horses… which… by the way… why aren’t you wearing your boots?” he laughed.

“I’ll put them on tomorrow!” she mused.

“If you’re still here,” he added.

The smile from Evie’s face dropped and that brought him a sense of relief. Even if she was leaving, he knew she was enjoying their time together. They walked in silence until they reached the tennis courts again. The other women had left, as well as the dishes. In its place was a bucket of ice with a bottle of wine.

“Apparently, they didn’t get the memo that you don’t drink.”

“Don’t worry about me. If you want some, please do.”

“Have you never had alcohol, or is this something new?” Matt asked.

“Never.”

“Really? Even in high school when everyone is hounding you?”

“Never. I never had a desire.”

“I’m impressed. Do your parents drink?”

“Nope.”

“Never?”

“I don’t know if they ever tried some when they were teenagers, but I do know they don’t drink.”

“So, you don’t drink because your parents don’t.”

“That helped during high school, but it’s a deeper commitment now.”

“Commitment? How?” Matt asked.

Evie bit her lips. “I can’t say.”

Matt nodded and then looked at the dance floor. He motioned towards it and asked, “You might be leaving tomorrow, so how about a first and last dance?”

Evie smiled. “That sounds nice.”

They walked hand in hand to the dance floor and Matt placed both arms around her waist. Evie gently reached her right hand behind her and grabbed his left hand and she brought both their hands to rest on his chest as she placed her left arm over his right shoulder.

“Really?” Matt asked, bemused. “Are we back in junior high school?”

Evie laughed. “I believe junior high school requires you to stand a whole foot apart.”

Matt pulled her in tighter. “We’re not in junior high.”

Evie giggled as she rested her head on his shoulder while they slowly swayed to instrumental music quietly playing in the background. The way she fit in his arms was perfect. His fingers played with her long, smooth hair as his chin rested on top of her head. If he could dance with her all evening, he would have, but he knew time was drawing near and he had invitations to pass out in a couple of hours.
