I shrugged. “I guess I was wrong. Jordan willnotbe getting you coffee, though. She is far too busy to deal with your menial order.”

“Excu—” I turned and left the office, making sure the door slammed on my way out. Two women that were walking by jumped. They muttered greetings to me. After they walked by, I saw Jordan standing against the wall, clutching the papers to her chest.

“Come, Jordan,” I said as I started to walk toward the elevator.

I turned. Jordan didn’t move from her spot. Her eyes widened as her cheeks started to darken. Her legs were pressed together. I smirked and stepped closer. “Now, now, I wouldn’t ask you to do that in such a public setting. Or were you thinking of the last time I said that?” I whispered in her ear.

I could hear her swallow as she pushed me with one arm. “What did you want, Cal?” she asked.

“Let’s walk and talk. Your coffee is going to be so melted it will be useless.” We started to walk together to the elevators

“How did you know I had a coffee?”

I rolled my eyes as I punched the button. “I went to thank you for your lovely note.”

Jordan’s lips pressed into a thin line. “Well, I meant it,” she muttered.

I leaned toward her ear. “I already told you that bad girls get punished.”

The blush from earlier deepened. She licked her lips. “I’m not doing this. Isn’t this harassment?” The elevator dinged and the doors opened. She jumped inside before the other people had a chance to exit. I waited till the people walked out before stepping back into her space. She was standing against the dark walls of the elevator.

I shrugged. “We were dating before we were co-workers.”

“I don’t think it works like that. So, you’re saying a rich guy can do what he wants?”

I leaned forward, caging her with my arms. “Not really. All I know is that I wantyou.I’ll fight for you. Give me a chance.”

Jordan’s pupils widened as her lips parted. I tipped my head closer to her lips. I gently brushed a soft kiss on her lips and pulled away. I turned away from her and closed my eyes. It was taking all parts of my being not to push her against the wall and show her how much I wanted her.

“Does that happen often with him?” I said. My voice was low and ragged as I tried to get control of myself.

“You mean Tyler? Yeah, he does that often. I don’t think I am the only one, but no one talks about it.”

The doors opened up. “Come get me if he does that again,” I said as I stormed to my office.

Chapter 14

Jordan

Sighing, I slunk into my seat in the copy room. I hated being around Mr. Tyler Lyons. He was a prime example of why I wanted to be invisible at work and it worked for a while. He would taunt the other women, get them intosituationsand they would get fired in the end. I steered clear away from him. Until last month. I had one slip and wore a lower cut top.I became visible to the worst person in the office. After that, I was in his periphery. Luckily, we worked on different floors and times like this, I appreciated my little hole. He would go out of his way to get me near him and somehow, whatever I was doing would fall to the ground or get messed up. While I fixed that disaster, I could feel him watching me. Ogling me.

This time, I was thankful that Cal showed up when he did. Since I didn’t talk with a lot of the women in the office, I wasn’t sure how the leering ended with Tyler. Would he pursue it further? There wasn’t a Me Too movement inside this office. I felt like there was a drastic difference between what Tyler did compared to what Cal and I did the other day. That was consensual. If I was a different person, I think I would tease Calall day. I slipped lower in my chair as my cheeks grew warm. Maybe it’s because I still wanted Cal. That’s why I was so angry. If I spend more time with Cal, it would be obvious I wasn’t over him. I wasn’t, though. I thought we had a connection. My eyes tracked the computer’s space saver sporadically flashed fireworks on various parts of the screen as I pondered my problems.

I really should look up the policy at this job regarding relations with co-workers. I didn’t want to ask Alana because she was nosy. She would badger me for why I was curious. Alana knew I have never really been interested in anyone here. I sat up and found my post-it notes, wrotefrat policyon one and slapped it to my planner. Although I doubted fucking in an office was allowed. My mind kept returning to what we did. I needed to get my head out of the gutter. I turned my chair away from the table where he first touched me. Every time I looked over there, I remembered and my body responded in need. Would I ever shake him? Did Iwantto?

Another day. Another note. I scribbled a fresh note to go with Cal’s coffee, walked out of his office, and hurried to the copy room. Standing at the door, Kate tapped her foot with her arms crossed over her chest. Her strawberry-blond hair was in a perfect bun. She had a pile of papers and folders and when I got within arm’s distance of her, she pushed them into my arms.

“Let’s go. We’ve got things to hand out.”

I frowned into the pile of papers. “What do you mean,we?” Something was up. I passed papers with Alana often, not Kate.

Kate turned on her heels with a steely look on her face. “Excuse me?”

Fear shook me to my core. “Nothing. Never mind. Lead the way,” I said.

“Are you still taking coffee to Caleb? Has he asked you to do anything else for him?” she asked as she pressed the button to the elevator. As we stepped into the elevator, Kate pulled her phone out. I leaned against the wall and stared at the ceiling.

“Yeah, I am. Isn’t that what you wanted?”
