A moment later, Sawyer came through the door with a smile. He was wearing a dark gray shirt and a tie the same color as J.T.’s. “Well, if it isn’t the O’Connell twins. You guys look great.”

J.T. nodded toward Sawyer’s tie. “I see you remembered how to tie a tie.”

“It’s like riding a bike.”

J.T. laughed. “I guess it is.” He checked the mirror one more time. “Last time I wore a tie, I was going to the prom with Joey. I still remember what she was wearing that night.” He laughed. “Oddly enough, it was a teal dress.”

Sawyer looked at his tie. “Is that what color this is? Looks like blue to me.”

J.T. came out of the bathroom. “I agree. But don’t tell Joey that.”

“Are you nervous?”

J.T. thought about it for a moment. “No. I’m not. Nothing to be nervous about.”

“Alright. Are you ready to go, then?”

“I believe I am.” J.T. looked at Finn. “Are you ready to go see your mom and dad get married?”

“Yeah. And cake.”

Sawyer laughed. “I’m looking forward to the cake, too, kid. Come on, co-best man. Let’s go get your parents married.”

The three of them left the trailer and got into J.T.’s truck. He turned around in the driveway, then drove the quarter mile to Joey’s house. There were several vehicles in the driveway, and J.T. parked behind Jake’s truck.

He took a breath. “Okay. Now I’m nervous.”

Sawyer put a hand on his shoulder. “You’ve got this.”

“You’re right. Let’s go.”

They left the truck and went into the house. They would be getting married in front of the big picture window in the living room, which looked out on the pasture and the mountains in the distance. Since there were so few guests, they opted not to set up chairs for the ceremony. It would be short and to the point. The couch and chairs were moved back out of the way, but they’d still be available to sit on for the reception.

Joey had purchased a large table for the dining room and it was set up for the meal Genny held plan and prepare. It was a Mexican food themed buffet with pork enchiladas, a taco bar, Spanish rice, and two types of beans. In the middle of the table were bowls of chips and several containers of salsa. There was also a liquor table with pre-made margaritas, a couple bottles of bourbon and tequila, and a tub filled with ice and beer. And lastly, there was a table with the beautiful cake Xander had made. On top of it was a cowboy holding his bride in his arms. They were kissing with the bride holding the groom’s hat.

The living room was decorated with several floral arrangements, and there were two dozen candles on the old mantle over the fireplace. It was all quite beautiful, and it reallyshowcased how much work Joey had put into refurbishing the house.

Jake and Ember saw them come through the door and went to greet them.

Jake shook J.T.’s hand. “How are you doing?”

J.T. nodded. “I’m good. Feeling good.”

Ember hugged him. “The three of you look very handsome.”

“As do you. Or…you know.”

She smiled. “Thank you. I think.”

Pastor Tim approached them and shook J.T.’s hand. “I just got word from the ladies. We’ll be ready to start in about fifteen minutes.”

“Okay.”

“So, relax and meet me at the window in fifteen.”

“Got it.”

When Sawyer nudged him and nodded toward the door, J.T. turned to see Xander coming through it. “What’s he doing here?”
