“I appreciate it.”

“I understand you want to make an announcement before you begin.”

Cash’s smile drops and he nods. “I do.”

“The world is listening.”

“No pressure then.” He chuckles. “Every love song I’ve ever written has been for one girl. My Indy.”

I gasp. What is happening?

“I screwed up with her and – before you ask – let me make this clear. Our relationship is private. We won’t be sharing any further details with the press. The subject is off limits.”

Is Cash announcing our relationship to the world? But he dumped me. I lean forward hoping he’ll explain more.

“You’re making it difficult for me to ask questions,” the host complains.

“I did say this was an announcement.”

The host nods as if to concede Cash’s point.

“Anyway, I’m here today to sing our upcoming release to my girl and ask her if she’ll forgive me.”

He picks up his guitar and fiddles with it for a moment before gazing into the camera. I hold my breath as he begins to sing.

I've learned from my mistakes,

I've grown,

And I'll fight for your love,

I've always known,

You're the one I need,

The missing piece of me,

I'm determined to make you see.

I'm gonna win you back,

Prove my love is sincere,

Every moment,

I'll treasure and protect,

With you, I'll resurrect.

It’s the song he wrote after the night we kissed on the couch. I fled like a coward from him and he stayed up all night writing a song about getting a second chance. This very song he’s singing on national television right now.

Cash steps out from behind the television. He’s here? Shouldn’t he be in a TV studio somewhere?
