“I’m taking you out for a surprise,” he rushes as he hands me a box of cereal.

I eye him curiously. “What kind of surprise?”

He rolls his eyes. “Can’t tell you that. Just that you’ll love it.”

I still watch him as though waiting for him to tell me it’s a joke or a trap. But I finish my cereal and follow him out to his white sports car, looking at him like he’s an alien as he just continues grinning at me. He turns the radio up as he starts out of the driveway and waves to the security team as he puts the top down in the car.

We drive for nearly an hour and I’m about to start playing twenty questions to find out where we are going when I finally see it.

“Twisted Tiles?” I ask him, surprised.

He just grins at me as he climbs out of the car and walks towards my side.

“Good surprise?” He asks, and I see nervousness in his eyes as he opens my door for me.

I’m still sitting in shock as he takes my hand and helps me to my feet. I can’t even contain myself as I wrap my arms around him. His fingers stroke my spine as he tightens his arms around me.

“Amazing surprise,” I finally chuckle as I let go of him and my face heats up as I step away.

He smirks and nods to the gates. “Let’s go.”

Before I can stop him, he has my hand in his and is dragging me to the entry gates. We get unlimited wristbands and I stare up at all the bright attractions in awe.

“Where to first?” He asks as he gestures around to the park.

I grin and point to the large coaster that currently is racing upside down with people screaming. “Daredevil huh? Today’s gonna be fun.”

I tense as he puts an arm around my shoulder and leads me toward the line but the crowd of people is overwhelming and I appreciate being able to stay close to him. He makes me feel safe when I’d otherwise feel overwhelmed in such a crowded area.

The flutters happening in my stomach everytime his finger traces the skin of my back or leans over to say something in my ear is merely coincidence, I’m sure of it.

We buy popcorn and sodas as we watch stilt walkers juggling and a man throwing around batons on fire.

“I can’t believe you’ve never been here,” Eli finally says as we get into the Ferris Wheel.

“You’ve come a lot?” I ask as the door shuts and it slowly starts lifting up over the park.

“My grandma brought me a few times when I was a kid. As teenagers though, Asher, Ax, and I spent most weekends here.”

“You guys have known each other a long time?”

“Our parents were all… friendly.”

I glance at him before turning back to look across the park at everything lit up. “You mean Vipers, right?”

Eli chuckles. “Yes. Though you seem to have a colorful imagination of what that means.”

I shrug. “I’ve seen Sons of Anarchy.”

Eli frowns and shakes his head. “Please tell me that’s not where you get all your theories and assumptions.”

I smile sweetly at him and he groans. “You’re ridiculous, Katelyn Elizabeth.”

I roll my eyes at him as we reach the top and I look all around us.

“Not scared of heights?” He asks, as I look directly below us and shake my head.

“I have enough fears as it is, don’t need to add heights to the list,” I laugh.
