Nora handed the phone back to him. Her phone beeped as she pulled it out. After reading the text, she looked up. “You had a leprechaun dope you. Chels said she saw you there with Clover making out at one point in the alley.” Nora rolled her eyes. “I’ve heard stories of what Chels does in that alley. Fucking perverts you all.”
“Can leprechauns do that?” Vin asked.
Nora stomped to the door. “Hell, if I know. Now, come tell my dad that you have ahumanmate.” Vin sighed and waved before he walked out with Nora. He looked like an errant child who was just chided by his parent.What was I going to do, though?I was magically married to a…wolf shifter?

Vin
Nora was pissed. “You know it’s the full moon tonight? Good fucking luck with dad,” she said. We weren’t forced to shift on full moons, but like a human on their period, it made us all more emotional and cranky. He was already frustrated withme,because of who I wanted to lay my preverbal sword for: his daughter.
“I’ll be fine.”
Nora scoffed. “How bad is the hangover?”
“Pretty fucking bad,” I muttered. If there was a growing bond between Clover and me, it was barely there. My wolf was ignoring me. I don’t think I could shift even if I wanted to.
Nora cranked up the radio, and I groaned as pain shot through my skull. “Can we stop by the doc before seeing him?”
“Fuck no. Punishment.”
I slammed my palm on the volume button. “Why are you so mad at me?”
“You woke me up, you fucking bit a human and fucking dad, man. I saw what that living room looked like. You did it in yourwolf form! Vin, you need to get over it. You’re a mated man now.”
“I figured it out when I saw the mess.”
“I can’t imagine how fucking sore she is. She’s hiding it very well. Even the shock about wolf shifters.”
“Yeah,” I said.
“I don’t think I can stay with the pack much longer, Vin,” Nora whispered. “If I leave, are you coming with me?”
“You’re thinking of leaving the pack.” It wasn’t a question. It was a statement. I looked out of the window as I stared at the houses becoming sparse. Soon it would just be trees till we hit pack lands.
“He won’t give me alpha. I’m sick of it.”
“Okay, if you were alpha, what would you do in this situation?”
“I think I would have to monitor the situation because I don’t know if you forced yourself on her.”
“If she?—”
“You could have bitten her tomakeher take your knot. So don’t with me.”
“Do you really think I would do it?” I whispered.
“I don’t know. I trusted you. You are my inner circle.” Her voice broke with those words. I really fucked things up for her.
“Only ’causehehates me. I’m not alpha.Youare.”
“And I am just a girl. He’s gonna kick you out.”
“Why are you so sure of that?”
She bit the inside of her cheek. “He knows what I have been doing these last few months. Any of the ones that have helped me are on a list. Mating with a human—you know how he is.”
