“What are you doing here?” I demanded.

“They kicked me out of the pack. I wanted to know if I could stay here. We’re connected anyway.” He sat down the suitcase and picked up the bag.

“You can’t stay here. And where are you going with that bag?”

He stopped. “I am taking it to the trash.”

“Do you even know where the trash is?”

“I took out trash this morning.” He tapped his nose. “Wolfie senses.”

My shoulders drooped. “Oh. But what does it mean that they kicked you out?”

“Most wolves live in a pack. At least wolf shifters do. Other shifters are different. We have a chain of command. I wasalready being watched. Biting you was the last straw. There will be more to follow if they step out of line.”

“Can’t we get a magical divorce?”

He turned and stomped towards the garbage bin. “I don’t know of many after a bite has occurred. It’s complicated. I have heard of rejected matesbeforea bite. Rejected mates and all. It would have to take some major magical intervention to sever the magical bond between us.”

“I don’t even know you. I don’t even know what is fully happening!”

An exasperated look crossed his face. He sighed. “Look, this is a special situation. Can we just try to get along? Get to know each other? Also, I got to find that leprechaun and ask her what she did to us,” he said.

“What was your name again?”

He blinked. “Vin.”

“Like the movie star?” I asked with a smile.

He made a face as if he was remembering something. His head cocked to the side as his eyes tracked my features and a smile formed on his face. “I think you’ve said that before.”

I pursed my lips. “I don’t remember that.”

He shrugged. He turned back to my apartment. “I barely remember it, but it just felt familiar. Am I staying? Even if you say no, we have to work out for us.”

“Did you drug me?”

“I would have drugged no one. Andshedid it to both of us.”

“Who?”

“A local leprechaun. I’m not sure why,” he said. He shifted on his feet uneasily. “I don’t think you fully realize what happened last night.”

I put my hands on my hips. “What do you mean?”

“Well, looking at your living room, we did it in my shifted or half shifted form.”

“What? What does that mean?”

He opened my door again and pointed to the clawed couch. “Evidence one: I can’t really say the table is it but it seems like proof. I could have done that without being shifted.”

I swallowed as I shut the door. “What do you mean?”

He smiled as he stepped closer to my body. I could feel the heat from his body at how close he was to me. Vin leaned over me with one hand caging my body and my heart skipped a beat as I looked up at him. “I could fuck you so hard that we’d break the bed. I don’t need to be a wolf to do that.”

I blinked as my mouth parted. His head dipped closer to my mouth and the other hand touched my shoulder. His fingers rubbed the area where the mark was and a shot of electricity pulsed through my body. I gasped as my body lit up with arousal. “What was that?”

His nostrils flared and he swallowed. “Proof, it was my bite on your shoulder.”
