I licked my lips. “Were you afraid you weren’t my first wolf?” I whispered.

Vin’s eyes darkened as he leaned closer. His lips brushed against mine as his fingers brushed against the mark again. More arousal coursed through my system. I couldn’t help pressing my body against his hard one. His tongue slipped between my lips and he slipped his hand down on my hip. His erection pressed against my hip. He pulled away and his forehead connected to mine.

“So is that a yes on me staying here?”

I pursed my lips. “I guess.”

Vin pulled away with a smile. “Thanks for giving us a chance. On my way home from work, I’m going to hunt her down and figure out what happened.”

Chapter 10

Vin

Ibanged on the door of a small cottage by the woods. The door opened up. A woman with green and blonde hair opened the door. Her eyes squinted at me. I had seen her at the bar often. A local leprechaun. A rarity.

“What are you doing here, Vin?” she asked, with her hands on her hips.

“You drugged us,” I said.

Siobhan rolled her eyes dramatically. “No, I didn’t. I added more luck to your drinks. I don’t know what you need in your life. Did you need some luck to make the move? You’ve been pining for your ex for…” She paused and counted on her fingers. “Five months!”

“We can’t remember anything.”

She shrugged. “I mean, y’all were both drinking a lot. Maybe I was forcing on the situation.”

“I’m a wolf.”

Siobhan closed her eyes as she shook her head. “You know how the witches that are bound to have bad luck? Potentially luck caused the same problem for you.”

“I had bad luck?”

She rolled her eyes again. “No. It took your shifter magic or abilities. I don’t know the difference, to be honest. Whatever luck decided you needed in your life. Did you need to get out of your own ass? Maybe. Why? What happened that you came here?”

“I bit her.”

Her bright green eyes widened as her mouth formed a perfect o. “Wow. That’s something. You remember nothing of last night?”

“Nothing. And I am guessing we consummated everything, too.”

Siobhan giggled. “She’s so cute, though, Vin. It’s why I kept pushing her towards you.”

“What?”

“I thought she could be a good match for you. All night long, I kept hinting. It didn’t start working till I laced everything with some luck. Was I wrong? Are you not a good fit?”

“I don’t know her. She doesn’t know me. How will this work?” I asked.

“How else would it work if someone fated it mates? Someone as in the gods. I guess. You wouldn’t know her then and you would have been frothing at the mouth to claim her. How is this different?”

“Because fate would have brought us together. Fate would have ensured that this would have worked?—”

“You wolves! It’s not all about fate. You still have to work with fate. Fate works with luck. Fate is just as important as magic. You all focus on fate like fate doesn’t work hand in hand with magic and luck. How do you walk into theonestore you never go to and meet your fated mate? It’s luck.”

“But you’re still talking about fate.”

“What if you were fated to always make this choice? What if something fated you to choose a mate based on some drunk sex? The luck I gave you allowed you to get out of your head andfeel. You haven’t let yourself go since that breakup. Maybe St. Patrick’s day was your lucky day,” she said. “Now, I’m going to go back to sleep. Bye!”
