“Something like that. Sorry, babe.”

I got up, and she pulled me back down to her, mashing our lips together.

“Taylor Brown,” she mumbled against me breathlessly, and I wondered if she expected me to remember that. I smiled at her, but as soon as I turned away, I had forgotten all about the girl with the big brown eyes.

“This party is wack,” Raff said as we walked through the kitchen. “It’s full of kids.”

I couldn’t help but laugh at this, dramatically waving my hand around us. “These kids are our age, Rafael.”

Raff stopped, turning to me with a grim expression on his face.

“Who’s Rafael?”

“One of the Teenage Mutant—” I snorted as Raff grinned at me.

“You’re a dickhead. Let’s go.”

Raff had ordered a taxi, and the two of us made our way into town.

“Where are we meeting them?” I said, checking out many girls dressed as policewomen, twirling their batons sexily as I watched, intrigued.

“In there.” Raff nodded to a bar on the corner, and I followed him across the road.

The bar was filled with students, and I tried not to grimace.

Nothing can bring me down.

“Baby!” Screeched a voice. I saw Margot dragging Raff into her arms like a kid who’d just won a prize at the Fair.

“Two Jack and cokes,” I instructed the bartender, turning to see Jenna walking towards me from the toilets.

She was the sort of girl any man would like, but she wasn’t just a pretty face. Jenna was clever, studying law, and she’d been my girlfriend for the past two years. So either she was oblivious to my ways, or she didn’t care because there was no way she didn’t know.

I’m hardly discreet.

“Hey,” Jenna said, wrapping her arms around my neck. “I’ll have a Prosecco.”

I nodded, turning to add the drink to the order when Margot gripped my arm, her eyes wide.

She’s wired too.

“Make it a bottle. I wanna get fucked up.”

Raff shrugged at me, and I sighed, adding a bottle of Prosecco onto the tab.

“Kiss me then,” Jenna whined, so I did.

She tasted sweeter than the other girl, and Jenna wanted to fuck.

“Can I come back to yours?” She asked, moving her mouth to my neck.

“If you want.” I shrugged, still riding the wave of happiness from earlier. It wouldn’t last, though, but I couldn’t afford any more. So far, I’d spent four hundred this month, and it was becoming a problem.

I was waiting for the drinks when I spotted a familiar face, but Raff beat me to it, nudging me.

“Your sister is here.” He smiled wickedly, and I handed over his drink and nodded at it.

“Drink that, and ignore her,” I commanded, knocking back the dark drink, signalling for another.
