I take a shower, hoping he’ll join me, but finally give up.

When I return to the bedroom, Grayson’s zipping up his jeans.

“What’s wrong?” I try not to pout but can’t keep it out of my voice.

“Need to go up to the clubhouse.” He buckles his jeans and glances at me. “You can come with me. I’d like you to.”

“Are you sure? I don’t want to cause…trouble.” Every second we spend together without me telling him the truth is dangerous. When we’re here, it’s so easy to forget and pretend that’s not part of my past.

At the clubhouse, it’s almost impossible.

“Why would you cause me trouble?” He frowns. “Of course I want you with me.”

“Oh.” My heart races as he crosses the room in only his jeans.

He stops in front of me and takes my hands. “After Grillo dropping by unannounced, I don’t want to chance not being home tonight. So I don’t plan to stay long.” He strokes his knuckles over my cheek. “Pack a few things to bring with you.”

“Are you asking me to the spend the night?”

His jaw tightens. “Yeah.”

“Okay.” I kiss his cheek before darting off to gather my clothes.

“Serena?” his gruff voice rumbles behind me. He presses his body against my back and wraps his arms around my waist, dropping a kiss on my shoulder. “I have a lot of regrets. I don’t want to mess this up and have you be one of them.”

I lean against him. “I don’t want you to regret me either.”

That’s not quite how I meant it. “Never.”

I turn and rest my forehead against his chest.

“Look, I know you saw some things at the clubhouse the other night. It’s not always like that.”

I swallow hard and look away. I know all too well what goes on in motorcycle clubs.

“Hey.” Misunderstanding why I can’t look at him, he presses a finger to my cheek. “Everything okay?”

Here’s where I should tell him the truth about my history with the club. It’s a perfect opportunity. If he’s going to leave me because of it, we can break clean now. Before my feelings for him get any bigger.

I should’ve told him before we slept together. And I definitely should’ve said something after he bared his soul to me about his ex-wife.

Now, it might be too late.

Chapter Twenty-Two

Grinder

Rooster and his girl, Jigsaw, Teller, and Wrath are all in the living room at the clubhouse when Serena and I arrive.

“The fuck did I run up here for if we’re not sittin’ down for church?” I ask, hanging my coat in the closet, then Serena’s.

Wrath chuckles. “Rock does this to us all the time.”

“Hurry up and wait,” Teller grumbles. His eyes land on Serena, and he frowns slightly.

She stops and looks back toward the door. I get that the brothers can be intimidating, but she’s got nothing to worry about when she’s with me.

I curl my hand around hers and drag her forward.

Wrath’s staring at his phone. “Trin needs my help.” He slaps Teller’s arm. “If he gets his ass here anytime soon, tell Rock I’ll be right back.”

“I’m not your messenger.” Teller slaps him back. “I got my own shit to do.”

They head off toward the dining room, arguing.

Shaking my head, I drop into a seat near Rooster. “Where’s everyone else?”

“Z and Steer are out at Z’s construction site, I think,” Rooster answers.

“Heidi and Murphy are still at their place,” Shelby adds.

“I’m here.” Jigsaw spreads his arms wide like he’s biker Jesus. “What more do you need?”

Rumbling with laughter, I pat his back. “You’re right. My life is complete now.”

“Ah, you seem much more chipper, Grinder.” Jigsaw grins.

Rooster elbows him.

I lean into Serena and pass her my phone. “Can you pull up that thing you showed me before? With the boxes and the comments?”

“Instagram?” She raises her eyebrows. “Why?”

I grit my teeth. Never dealt with a woman who asked so many questions. “I wanna ask Rooster something.”

Her wide, round eyes bounce between Rooster and me. “I, uh…not a lot of people in my real life know about it.”

I stare at her, trying to figure that out.

She squirms. “I try to keep my real life and online life separate.”

“Good luck with that,” Shelby says.

“You manage okay,” Jiggy says to Shelby.

“Only because Rooster’s managing my social media now.”

“You do that stuff?” I ask Rooster. See? I knew he was the one to ask.

“Yeah,” he answers slowly. His gaze darts between Serena and me. “Why?”

I wiggle my fingers at Serena in a hurry up motion. “Give me the phone.”

“Ugh.” Serena blows out a frustrated breath and yanks her phone out of her purse instead. She taps at it a few times and brings up a miniature version of what was on her laptop earlier.

“Whatcha got going on, Serena?” Jigsaw asks.

“Not porn,” she snaps.

I frown in her direction, surprised at her tone. It seems to roll off Jigsaw, though.
