Gone is the innocent, fresh-faced girl who attracted me all those years ago.
Before me stands a scorching hot woman, who happens to look very annoyed at the moment.
She despises me. I expected it, but to see the displeasure of running into me radiating from her like heat from a roaring campfire catches me off guard. I’m not used to a woman having such an adverse reaction to my presence.
I give her my most devilish smile. The one that has charmed women from the boardroom to the stage, all the way to the bedroom. And she frowns. That doesn’t happen. Ever.
Can it be that Miss Ansley Humphries has grown immune to my allure?
Her frown grows deeper, and she rolls her eyes at me.
“I have somewhere to be. Can’t say it was a pleasure seeing you again. Have a nice life,” she says before marching into the crowd.
Well, damn, maybe she has. If there’s one thing I thrive on, it’s a challenge, and this beautiful creature just offered me one.
