Chapter6

The little bitch had clobbered me. If I weren't in so much pain, I'd be proud of her, but right now I needed to stop the bleeding.

Fucking headwound.

I had no one to blame but myself. I knew that her bindings were coming loose, but I'd been too damn distracted by those big brown eyes and how good her skin felt.

Fuck.I couldn't be pissed. This was a hundred percent my fault. She'd taken off towards the pantry. Smart. It was the only place in the bunker where she could hide. In the entry were the beds she could fit under, but that had been behind me, and she couldn't have run in that direction.

The only way she could go was towards the plumbing section, which had the bathroom, showers, kitchen and pantry.

In terms of panic rooms, it was damn comfortable. In our line of work, Alek and I knew we had to be careful. We knew we might need to go into hiding for months at a time.

Which meant there were enough supplies to keep Kitten and I down here for a long damn time, if necessary. Assuming she didn't get her hands on another damn fire extinguisher.

Fuck.

The first aid stuff was in the bathroom, but I didn’t want to leave Becks unattended. Let her stay in hiding if she wanted, but I didn't need her sneaking off and grabbing a knife when I wasn't looking.

Stumbling into the kitchen, I started yanking open cupboards until I found a bottle of vodka, a few glasses, and a roll of paper towel.

When I made it to the sink, I flipped it on and let it run for a solid minute. It ran clear the entire time, but since I was going to put it on an open wound, a little extra wouldn't hurt.

In case the plumbing was shut off, we also had a few hundred gallons of water in a storage room in the back, but fuck if I was going through all that trouble with the headache I was fighting right now.

With the goddamn concussion I was dealing right now. Fuck it. I've dealt with worse.

I twisted off the cap of the vodka and poured some into the glass before tossing back my head and pouring a fair amount of the liquor onto the open wound.

When I straightened my head, I covered my eye with a towel to keep the flow of blood and vodka out.

Good enough first aid for now. And to help with the pain, I drank down the glass of vodka.

"Becks! Get out before I have to drag you out." If I didn't have to deal with a wild card who liked to run around slamming fire extinguishers into my face, I could down this entire bottle.

There was no fucking way this girl was coming out on her own. I took another drink straight from the bottle and wiped below my headwound once more.

Keeping the bottle in my hand, I shuffled over to the pantry, leaning against the wall next to the first shelf.

"Come on, Kitten. I know you're there. I can come in there and drag you out. You know you can't hide. You know I'll find you. Do you want to play this game with me?"

It hurt to talk. If I did have to drag her out, I couldn't promise I'd be gentle about it. I wasn't known for being gentle when making people do what I wanted.

Or at all. Ever.

From where I was sitting, I couldn't see her, but I didn't doubt my ability to find her. Back when Alek and I were kids, we would play games of hide and seek that would go on for ages.

I cherished some pretty fun memories of running around Dad's place, searching for my dick of an older brother. We had to savor all the moments we could when he wasn't trying to beat our adulthood into us.

This panic room was a piss poor playground for hide and seek. I could think of a lot more games I'd rather play with my kitten.

I didn't have a lot of bargaining chips to throw down, but I wasn’t afraid to use what I had. Setting the vodka down with a clang, I pushed it away. "If you come out right now, you get to drink with me. Otherwise, you get nothing but water for the next day. I don't bluff."

Starving people was the worst. Not because I felt bad for them. Because I was an impatient bastard, and people could go way too long without food.

If I was going to be bunking down with Becks, I should probably keep my mind off torture methods. And sex. And any kind of sex play that involved torture methods.

Why hadn't we stocked this place with cigarettes? If Alek and I were ever stuck down here without nicotine, we would've ended up killing each other way before any bullets could get to us.

I was about to get up and go after her when I finally heard some shuffling come from the back. Sure enough, a moment later, a blonde head poked around a shelf of dried prepackaged meals and canned goods, her eyes wide enough that if I hadn't known she was down here with me, I would've thought she was a ghost.

"Hey, gorgeous. Fancy meeting you here."

She emerged fully, glaring at me as though imagining all the ways she could kill me with the supplies available to her here.

Earlier, I thought it would be fun. Now as my brain was still shaking around in my skull, I couldn't say I was still as up for a game of wrestling with my captive.

I twisted the cap onto the bottle before I rolled it across the room, watching it come to a stop against her sneakers.

Those angry eyes looked between the bottle and me, and I thought she was going to throw it back at me. But then she cautiously lowered herself to the ground and sat cross-legged, taking the bottle in her hands.

"That a girl."

She rolled her eyes. "You're trying to piss me off."

I shrugged. "It's a talent."

Her long fingers ran up and down the neck of the bottle like she was stroking a cock.

Fuck me. I've never actually forced a woman before. Maybe if I made her come enough times, she wouldn't be pissed.

I don't think that's how it worked, but if she kept on stroking that bottle like that, I was going to test the theory anyway. "Tell me about yourself, Kitten."

She had the nerve to throw her head back and laugh at me like I made some fucking joke. "Seriously? You want to make small talk? Tell me why I'm here, asshole."

I chuckled to myself. "No one in this city would talk to me that way."

"At least one person will, and you're the dumbass who kidnapped her. Good job!" She finally twisted off the cap and took a deep drink of the vodka.

She was so tiny that it was going to hit her hard. Once she passed out, she'd be a lot easier to deal with. At least I wouldn't have to fight her as I tied her to the bed.

I wouldn't be able to get any sleep until she was tied and rendered unable to slam anything else into my skull.

"Tell me about your roommate, Daisy Stone."

Those eyes, which already were filled with malice, turned to granite. "I'm not telling you a thing about her."

"She was protective over you, too. It's sweet, really. She's the reason you're here." I winced. "That's wrong. I'm the reason you're here. She was my mistake. I misread something and I thought she was the threat. Now I'm fucked, and you're the only protection I have." I laughed bitterly, wishing I would've brought my own vodka bottle.
