“Me too,” Alexa said.
He walked her back to his office and helped her set everything down on the table “I’ll get a desk in here for you. Would you like to help me pick it out?”
She turned and looked at him. “No, I don’t mind this. I don’t want you to buy me anything.”
He cupped her chin in his hand. “Baby, I want to make you as happy and comfortable as I can. It’s like Caleb said, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do or buy for you.”
“I just don’t want you to spend money on me.”
“I can’t think of a better way to spend my money, honey.”
She nodded, but he could tell she still didn’t like it.
“Why don’t you work on your garden, and I will get some work done before we go home. Is that okay?”
“That’s great. Whatever you want,” she said.
He bit back a sigh and went to sit down at his desk. For the next few hours, he would glance up and see her either working hard on her picture or looking at him, making him smile.
“I’m done for the day. How about we go home and order some dinner for tonight? It’s been a big day for you already. We’ll go grocery shopping this weekend.”
She nodded. “That sounds fine.”
Once in the condo, he pulled some menus out of a drawer in his kitchen and handed them to her. “Here, honey, pick what you want. I’m going to go shower and change, and I’ll be right back.”
“Okay.” She sat down at the dining room table and started looking at the pamphlets
He was back within five minutes, wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt. “What did you decide?”
She looked up. “Can we have Chinese?”
“Baby, we can have whatever you want.”
“Okay then, I’d like Chinese. I don’t remember ever having it, but I think I’d like it.”
Gavin didn’t like the sound of that at all. He would figure out everything she had wanted to try and hadn’t yet and make sure she got it because he wanted to make her as happy as possible.
“Okay, I’ll order a few different things that you can try. Why don’t you go in and shower and put your pajamas on? After we eat, we’ll watch a movie before bedtime?”
“I’d like that.”
“Good.” He watched her walk down the hallway, turned, and made his order before getting each a glass of water and forks. He was reading through a few papers he had brought home when she walked back in, and he just about swallowed his tongue. He thought she would come in with sweats and a t-shirt like him, but instead, she was in a short pink nightgown with flowers.
“Honey, is that what you sleep in every night?”
“Yes. These are the only pajamas I have. Is this okay?” she asked.
“Yes, that’s fine.” He was trying to determine how he would get through the night and not touch her the way he wanted to. He’d figure out something because he didn’t want to scare her or run her away.
Fortunately, the security desk called up, giving him an excuse to walk away from her so he could regroup. They sat down to eat and asked each other several questions. It turned out that they had a lot in common because they both liked being outdoors, swimming in pools and not oceans or lakes, and loved animals.
He couldn’t remember a more relaxing meal, and he liked that she had opinions on things and wasn’t afraid to voice them to him.
After cleaning up their dinner, they sat on the sofa. He pulled her against his side, wrapped an arm around her, and rested his feet on the table. Then he picked up the remote and went through a couple of channels. “Does anything here look good?” he asked.
“Yes, I liked the one with Tom Hanks. He’s really funny.”
Gavin grinned and turned it back to the movie. They watched it for a long time, and the more time passed, the harder his cock got. Fuck, he’d never been so miserable in his life, and he didn’t know how he would be able to sleep with her and not touch her.
