“What?” Ariana appeared at his side, concern in her eyes.
Damon turned his attention back to Boone. “You have some imagination. I didn’t threaten you. I told you to stay away from Ariana and Lia. Nothing more.”
“Explain that to the detective. I’m sure she’ll be stopping by as soon as she’s had ample time to look at it.”
“Why would she bother with that?” Damon asked. “Her focus is on finding Rita.”
“Maybe you had something to do with her disappearance.” Boone smirked.
“Does your depravity know no end?”
“I’m not the one who threatened me on video,” said Boone.
“What are you talking about?” Ariana demanded.
“Ask your husband.”
She turned to Damon.
He kept his focus on Boone. “Leave. You, more than anyone, know I had nothing to do with Rita’s disappearance.”
“How would I know?”
Damon clenched his fists.
Ariana stepped between him and Boone. “You’re the one who should be worried. You don’t even care that your wife is missing, and then you go visit your girlfriend.”
“You shouldn’t have been following me,” Boone said.
“Rita’s your wife. You should be more concerned about her than me, but you don’t even care!”
Damon rested his hands on Ariana’s shoulders. “Let’s go inside. Boone is leaving.”
She shook free of his hold. “What did you do to Rita?”
“Nothing,” Boone said. “I have no idea where she is.”
“Didn’t you say she went to her mom’s? That you got a text from her?”
“I spoke with her mom. Rita never showed up.”
“Big surprise,” Ariana said, her tone full of mock sarcasm. “Are you worried yet?”
Boone’s brows drew together. “She’s my wife. Why wouldn’t I care?”
“You tell me.”
He stepped closer, barely leaving any space between him and her.
Damon pulled Ariana behind him. “Get off our property now. Before I call the cops.”
“Tell your wife to stop following me.”
Damon slammed the door.
Ariana turned to him. “What was he talking about? You threatened him?”
“I went over there last night and had a discussion with him. Big surprise that he’s blowing it out of proportion.”
