“Obviously they have one!” They were rolling their way right to the castle gates… they had to have one…right?

A woman with a couple of children at her side passed by the pair. Ace jumped at the opportunity, without thinking, and moved behind her, grabbing the woman's shoulders and pointing her down the road away from the carriages. "Oh my God! What is that over there?!” she shouted at the top of her lungs, hoping that the woman shielded her enough.

Everyone turned to look in the direction the woman was facing including the people nearest the carriage. Except Ace didn’t wait to make sure that any of them looked, she sprinted up to the carriage dragging Shelby behind her, threw the door open, and shoved themselves inside. The girl was leaning toward the opposite window trying to see whatever it was that was causing a ruckus outside. Both she and the man gasped as Ace and Shelby found the seat across from them.

“For the second time today, I’m amazed. That actually worked.” Shelby shook his head.

“The key is to not think and just to act…and maybe have Bedesh on your side.” Ace winked at the couple, taking a long minute to close the small curtains that hung over the windows on the side.

"What are you doing?" the man demanded.

"What a good question." Shelby deadpanned, looking from Ace to the couple. She couldn't read his thoughts but she guessed that he'd be saying something along the lines of ‘what now?’

The truth was Ace hadn’t entirely thought it through. Perhaps this had been a little bit impulsive…

This is where you thrive, Ramdon reminded her. Which made all the other gods frown. Ace wasn’t ever sure how she knew they were frowning but she always did.

He was right.

Ace did the only thing that she could think of. She twisted in her seat throwing her fist out in front of her following through with the movement as her knuckle collided with the woman's head. Her face snapped to the side, her eyes wide with shock before closing and her body fell limp into the seat.

“Oh my God! Is she dead?" the man shouted but it was already too late. Ace’s hand was already flying towards him too. He moved, anticipating the blow, and grabbed her hand. Her hand ached as his fingers dug into her skin. She tried to yank her hand free but that only made his grip tighten.

“I'm calling for the—”

“No you're not." Shelby ground out before Ace watched his fist connect with the man's nose. There was a crack as the man’s head thrust upward. Blood trickled out of his nostrils and dripped into his open mouth. It wasn’t perfect but the hit had done what it needed to.

"Now what are we gonna do with their bodies?"

"Well, they're notdead!” Ace said. “We just need to strip them out of their clothes and…” She felt underneath them on the lip of their seat. “Move." She shooed Shelby to the other side of the carriage.

He sat delicately on the seat next to the woman, looking at her uneasily. He put a finger under her nose to feel for her breath. When he was satisfied that she was indeed breathing, he pulled his hand away.

Under the bench, there was a small latch that Ace flipped open before she lifted the seat up to reveal the empty space underneath. "I knew some of these fancy carriages had storage under the seat for when they go shopping!” She cocked her head examining the small space, then looked back at the couple. "Do you think both will fit in here?"

The carriage rocked a little bit as they rolled forward inching closer toward the castle. "Do we have any other choice?"

Ace shook her head and set the lid down moving over towards the girl. "They're not gonna be out for long so we need to undress them quickly and shove them into the compartment."

She tipped the woman forward and her face fell into Ace’s chest. The brim of the small green hat the girl had been wearing started to bend between them. She tugged at the ribbon tied around her neck, took the hat off, and set it on her head as she began undoing the laces of the girl’s dress. She looked up at Shelby who was watching her in silence.

"Hurry up!"

“I hate this. I hate all of this," he muttered still sitting there.

"Yeah, you've said that a few times. If you had a better plan then you should've probably suggested it by now. Instead, we're just making it up as we go."

“Maybe we shouldn't have come to this event at all," he said under his breath.

Ace mocked him under her breath but stopped the moment the laces came completely undone and she began pulling the woman's arms out of the gown like she was a giant doll. The woman had bloomers on under the dress so Ace felt pretty comfortable knowing that she wasn't going to becompletelynaked. And she’d leave her clothes behind in case she needed them.

How kind of you,Greshta mumbled. She was in a particularly sour mood today considering Ace was doing what they wanted…mostly.

Ace grunted. Lifting the woman off her seat, she pushed the gown off her legs and when she had her feet successfully out of the dress she hoisted the woman up and tried her best to carefully set her in the storage bin. Ace was breathing hard and her muscles were fatiguing as she worked to hold her own.

By the time the woman was in the bin and she turned back to look at Shelby he’d almost completely gotten the suit pieces off of the man. The carriage stopped. Ace peeked out the closed curtains to the street side. They were so close to the gates; they would have to really hurry now.

“Go, move faster,” she warned, as she began peeling off her clothes and chucking them at the woman without a care as to what Shelby might or might not see. She shoved her legs into the dress, shimmying it up her hips, and pushing her arms through.
