I didn’t like where this was headed. “What do you mean?”

Her eyes narrowed. “Do you remember anything we talked about last night?”

Nodding, I stepped toward her. “I do.”

“Then you heard the part where I mentioned complications?”

I took another step closer. “And I said you can’t worry about that.”

She held up a hand, halting me. “But I do. What if we break up and it causes tension at the gym?”

“Emma and Carter never worried about that,” I countered.

Reagan rolled her eyes. “That’s because Emma doesn’t train with him. You and I are at the gym together constantly. And when our parents retire for good, we’ll be partners of Fightanium.” My lips pulled back into a grin and she crossed her arms over her chest. “What’s so funny?”

Shrugging, I couldn’t help but smile harder. “You’re so fucking sexy right now.”

She threw her hands in the air. “I’m trying to have a serious conversation with you.”

Closing the distance, I grabbed her around the waist, and she huffed when I pulled her in close. She didn’t fight against me, which was a good sign. “And I’m listening, Reagan. Life is too short to stress about the small shit. If we don’t work out, then at least we had the balls to give it a shot. I don’t want to spend the rest of my life wondering about the what-ifs. What I do know at this very moment, is all I can think about is you.Youare the only woman I want and the only person I’ve wanted for a long time.” I slid my hands to her face and tilted it up so she’d have to look at me. “You can’t tell me it doesn’t feel good to be this close to each other.”

Reagan tried not to smile and when I lifted my brows, she gave in. “Okay, fine, it does. I’ve fought my feelings for you and tried to ignore them as best as possible.” Her gaze fell to my lips. “I enjoyed our kiss the other night.”

“So did I.” I leaned down and kissed her, loving how she melted in my arms. “And I’d love more than anything to hear you say you’re mine.”

With a faltering smile, she took my hands and removed them from her face. “I want to be, Braden, just like I want you to be mine. It’s just …”

“It’s just what?”

She stepped away and turned her back to me. “Finn and Annika. We’re supposed to be their dates tonight.”

“What does that have to do with anything?”

Reagan faced me again. “We’ll have to keep our distance. I don’t want them knowing there’s something between us.”

“Why?” I demanded.

“It’s only until I’m done training Annika. Then, we can do whatever we want once that's over.”

None of it made sense to me. “I don’t get it. Why does it matter?”

Her body tensed. “It just does. Please be patient with me. I have to get through her training.”

“And let me guess, Finn has something to do with this? I bet he was with you yesterday, wasn’t he?”

The second Reagan hung her head, my blood boiled. “It’s not like that,” she claimed.

“So, you’re going out of your way to keep Annika from me, but I can’t do anything to keep you away from Finn? Kind of fucked up, don’t you think?”

Reagan’s fiery blue gaze shot to mine. “I don’t want, Finn. What I need you to do is trust me. Just let me get through Annika’s training.” She averted her gaze as if there was something she didn’t want me to see. I knew Reagan; I knew her quirks.

“You’re hiding something from me. What is it?”

She quickly backed up to the door and opened it. “Nothing.”

“Reagan, wait,” I said, moving toward her.

Shaking her head, she started down the hall. “I have to go. I’ll see you tonight. Be at my apartment at six. There’ll be a limo to pick us up.”
