"Yes, on the outside." Black Feather agreed. "We must forget Luki, for she is not important."

Black Feather smiled, "Deer Runner and I have no children, but we do love each other deeply. We are still like newly wed people. We love hard and often." She chuckled now.

"I'm glad! I never felt this wonderful about a man in my life. I never thought I would find such comfort in a man."

"Lone Wolf was right, you are his woman."

Hannah laughed.

"What are you two laughing about?" Deer Runner asked as he came inside the small cave they had found.

"We were just talking about how handsome and virile you two are." Black Feather laughed.

He bent to kiss Black Feather, "Thank you. I will show my gratitude later," he winked.

The girls both laughed.

Chapter Fourteen

Every time she looked at Lone Wolf now, her entire body came alive with feelings unfamiliar to her. Desire spread through her like a small fire that flamed into an inferno. She knew she had to fan the flames for this was not the time or place for it, but her body did not know this. Since desire was new to her, she sought to quench it.

She couldn't help but wonder what life with him would be like. How could she stop this ache inside her?

But each night now, he held her close, kissed her forever before he pulled her against him and held her through the night. Hannah felt a contentment she'd never known, a peace she never had.

She'd never felt so protected in her life. She slept soundly in his arms and woke up to more kisses in the morning.

Still, the feelings scared her too. She didn't know much about love. Love had eluded her all her life, now to have found it, made her heart swell. She was afraid to be this happy.

It was still some walk to home. Home! She thought of his camp as hers now. How would everyone see her? Would they be happy for the marriage? She prayed they would rejoice at her wedding.

So many things ran through her mind.

She watched Black Feather and Deer Runner now, to see how they got along. They were a loving couple, despite the fact that they had no children. It didn't matter. Perhaps love wasn't something she had to worry about.

One night as they camped in the desert of the north Texas panhandle Lone Wolf held her as they stood staring up at the stars and he pointed out different stars to her.

"You know about the stars?" she asked amused at his knowledge.

"A sea captain once told me about them."

"A sea Captain?" she turned to look at him.

"Yes, he was going home to his family after a long voyage at sea. He hadn't been home in a year and a half."

"You have met many people, haven't you?" She turned to look into his eyes.

"Yes, we, as a people, used to travel more than we do now. We ran into many d

ifferent kinds of people. White, Indian, and many others."

"Why did you travel so much?" She wanted to know so much about him and his people, as they would be her people now.

"When the buffalo was more plentiful we would follow their trails. But that was long ago. Much of the buffalo is gone. I was young when I met the sea Captain, but I was curious, and he was a friendly man, since he worked with many different kinds of people on the big ship. He said on the ocean the stars were so much bigger, like small lights lighting the way for them. He said if you knew the stars they would always keep you from being lost. That one there, the brightest of them all, is the north star and if you find that, you can find your way home from anywhere. The dipper points to it, see?"

She stared up at stars in wonder. "I never took the time to look at the stars that much. I guess I took them for granted. You show me more and more ways to look at this world. Until I met you I only saw a barren prairie. I never looked up into the night sky much."

"Stars can be many things to many people. This sea Captain said they were full of man's dreams too. Some fulfilled, some not."
