“I do,” Sebastian answered.

He turned to Tia who was holding Brie’s brand-new wedding ring. It was stunningly large diamond ring; I’d driven him to pick it up just a week ago. He slid the band onto her finger, smiling widely.

“And Brie Nicole Dutton, do you promise to cherish and love this man. To take him as your husband, through whatever trials and tribulations that may befall you?”

“I do,” Brie replied taking her ring from Tessa and putting it onto Sebastian’s waiting hand.

“You may kiss the bride,” the minister declared.

Sebastian swooped in to kiss his new bride like a love-struck teenager. He was finally married to the last person I thought would catch his eye. Not that Brie wasn’t a beautiful woman, it was just Sebastian had been under his ex’s spell. A few times, I’d wondered what had caused Mr. DeLuca to finally see Brie in a romantic light, because it seemed overnight, he’d become obsessed with her.

Sebastian and Brie’s exit music began to play. My eyes began to search for Nora who was tucked away behind some flowers watching the whole show. Yet another successful event pulled off by the most brilliant woman in the room. Slowly, I pulled the earpiece out of my ear.

I was now off duty.

Both Nora and I were getting ready to take a vacation.

Or as she had put it, a “Baecation.”

The church was nearly empty when she’d joined me on the front steps. We watched as Sebastian and Brie departed for a honeymoon with the kids. The crowd of people had thrown earth friendly confetti, one of Nora’s finishing touches. The happy couple and the kids were going somewhere tropical. Joey Rico, another senior guard that I’d personally trained, was going to take over guarding them until I came back.

“Ready to go figure out what your father’s been up to?” Nora looked up at me.

“This is also a chance for us to do romantic stuff, Darlin.”

She frowned and gave a laugh. “You? Romantic?”

Pulling her in close, the Corsican purred. “You are our woman. I will make romance happen. I swear it.”

Nora reached up and planted a kiss on my lip then cracked a smile. “Just think this is our first vacation together. I’ve met just about your entire family; we’ve already had a breakup. You’re getting a new stepmother and a sibling, and your father was going to let me be murdered…”

I winced at her words because it was all true. “Nora…”

“Mason…” she mocked me.

“You know I’ll never let him ever get that close to you again, right?” I asked.

Nora rolled her eyes. “Nah, I want him to get close. I’m going to shoot your father, Mason.”

That got a chuckle out of me. “Gangsta Nora.”

“Don’t push me because I will shoot,” she stepped back and did a little two step, her high heels clicking from where she was dancing in place.

Checking the time on my phone, I saw that we had a few minutes to get to Seattle International Airport. The thumb drive that Nora had pulled files from was in my front pocket. A ride share pulled up in front of the completely empty church now, and we got in.

We were going to figure out exactly what my father had been up to while he’d been in Italy. Matteo even had Interpol waiting to spot Augustus, he was wanted for questioning by the FBI.

And while we were playing detective, I was going to wine and dineourwoman.

My Corsican stirred.

If there was anything sinister waiting in Italy, we would find it and we would destroy it.

Nora glanced over, a smile on her face.

“Penny for both of your thoughts,” she smiled.

“Just thinking wondering if you ever joined the mile high club…”

Rolling her eyes, she replied by pulling me into a kiss. I took that as both a no, and a challenge. I loved a good challenge.
