“Get us some tzatziki and caviar, please,” Mars replied, taking off the sunglasses. Rhi flinched slightly, realizing that hers were still on too. “And could you get us a pitcher of water for the table? Thanks so much.”

“Right away, sir.” The server bowed her head before hurrying off.

Rhiannon’s stomach nearly flipped. “Caviar? The stuff that costs, like, a hundred dollars per egg?”

Mars laughed. “You’re funny. It doesn’t costthatmuch. Have you ever had any? It’s served with blini which look like baby pancakes. Apparently, you’re not supposed to chew caviar, but who cares. Just enjoy yourself.”

Of course, she spilled water on her shirt as she drank her first gulp. Rhiannon wondered when it would be the right time to tell him that she was only on a date with him because of her shelter project. Yet, that felt too mean.

Besides, she didn’twantto tell him that at all. She was enjoying herself too much. He cracked jokes, tossing looks her way to make sure she was smiling and laughing, and he encouraged her to order everything her heart desired.

Her eyes bulged, seeing that each meal cost fifty dollars or more, but Mars relaxed her with his kind words and smooth charm.

She was only fulfilling her end of the bargain. That was it. A date with Mars Casey was all she needed to get a spot for her shelter.

It was better to keep her business and personal life separated. There was no need to bend the rules for an attractive billionaire with a sweet smile and a heart of gold.

FOUR

MARS

She’s the one. I know she is.The bear inside Mars growled his approval as the words echoed in Mars's head.

He thought back to the moment when Lenard called him back, telling him that he had found the location he needed.

Mars's heart did little flip-flops as he looked at Rhiannon. Thank God they found a place for Gerri. Because now he had found his fated mate in return for a measly thing like dirt.

The bear inside him growled again, and Mars suppressed the urge to shift. He knew it was because he had found his fated mate. It was a primal, almost base experience when a shifter found their mate. Mars had never before thought much of the mating process or the mating bond.

He had always laughed it off when other shifters in his clan found their mates. But now he knew what it meant.

And he knew that they had been completely right every time they spoke about fireworks.

Fireworks could not explain what he felt. And everything about Rhiannon was perfect.

She was funny, highly intelligent, and very hardworking. He had figured out right away that she was a principled woman who believed in equality.

That she was stunningly beautiful was just the icing on a very delicious cake.

She was tall, only a few inches shorter than he was. And she had the kind of body that made him drool.

Rhiannon was all curves and rounded edges, and her hourglass figure was highlighted in the modest clothing she wore.

The first thing he had noticed about her when she walked were perfectly swaying hips and a perfectly rounded ass.

Voluptuous breasts that Mars knew would spill over the palms of his hands sat above an elegant waist and softly curving stomach.

She was so beautiful, it made him ache.

Rhiannon looked up at him with sparkling dark eyes. Mars's keen shifter eyesight did not miss the tiny gray flecks in her eyes.

She ran a hand through her thick dark hair that fell in curls to the middle of her back.

“Are you enjoying the food?” he asked. Mars had been pleased to see her ordering a hefty plate of food.

He liked a woman with an appetite. Mostly because it meant she wouldn’t steal food off his plate halfway through the meal.

She smiled at him with her shy grin as she swallowed a forkful of pasta. Rhiannon nodded eagerly, the hand holding the fork bouncing in her air.
