I fell backwards onto my bed, blinking at the ceiling and trying to deconstruct everything I’d seen.

What just happened?

I’d watched him getting head. That was what happened. But I chose to ignore the throb between my thighs.

I didn’t get hot for Ares. That certainly couldn’t be reality.

“You still not able to look at me?” Rio asked, accepting the steaming coffee mug.

“Is it weird?” I scrunched my face in embarrassment when I sat beside him. I shouldn’t have spilled about the blowjob when he saw my face in horror four mornings ago.

I did like our mornings together, though. Rio and Ares looked like clones, but they couldn’t be any different personality wise. Where Ares was dedicated to keep a grudge against me, Rio joked around and took his coffee exactly like me.

See? It wasn’t that hard to earn my friendship.

Rio sipped his java and put on a sly smile. “It is when you imagine having a dick in your mouth that resembles mine.”

I almost dropped my mug. I put it down with a loud bang, taking my hot cheeks in my palms. “Seriously, Rio?”

He shrugged. “Well, yeah. We’re completely identical.”

I waved a hand in front of him, sassily answering, “I noticed that.”

“So is the downstairs department,” he pointed out.

“Good God,” I groaned. “I’ve been avoiding the outside terrace and that stupid swing the entire week now, Rio.” I turned myself to wrap my hands around his neck and shake him, acting as if I wanted to choke the life out of him. “If you’re fishing for a compliment, you’re doing it wrong. Don’t bring that up again. Ever!”

“Okay, okay.” He took my wrists and gently brought them to the table. “Easy, sis.”

I didn’t mind him calling me that. He had me barfing all over the breakfast bar this morning, but he’d welcomed me like family.

“I’m not fishing, by the way,” Rio continued. “I already know I can make it feel like its magic.”

“I hope it’s not like a disappearing act. That would be disappointing.”

Rio smiled. “Try to hide eight inches. It’s not that simple.”

I spat my coffee back and moaned in exasperation. “You really had to go there? You’re awful, Orion.” I held up my hand, stopping him from interrupting. “Yes, I had to use your full name. That was just… God, I can’t even.”

He burst out laughing. “Sure, I’ll admit I probably should’ve kept that tidbit to myself.”

“Ya think?”

He finished his coffee and went to the sink to rinse his mug out. “You’ll find out anyway. I was just upfront with you.”

I bunched my brows in confusion. “What?” Then it sunk in. “Oh, no. You and I” —I waved a finger between us— “are not going to happen.”

“I wasn’t talking about me.”

“Then who?”

His pointer finger bobbed at the ceiling. I wasn’t entirely sure what he was trying to explain, but then I remembered Ares working a night shift and coming home right after I woke up. Even annoying stepbrothers cherished their beauty sleep.

I rolled my eyes. “Now you’ve completely lost it.
