I didn’t know what was worse. The silence or the tumult? Knowing they were joking around or wondering if he had his tongue down her throat?

You know what? Didn’t matter. Making use of my pool to fool around was just not acceptable.

I rushed out of the door, almost tripping down the stairs, but I pretended to be calm and collected when I shuffled into the kitchen and found Misha grabbing two bottles of water in the fridge.

“A romantic swim at night?”

Misha’s head turned. “Hey, bro!”

“Hey… brother,” I murmured, faking a smile and jamming my fists into my pockets.

He caught my uptight posture and frowned, swinging the bottles in front of him. “Just getting some waters. The chicks were pretty hyped up on a tequila sunrise or two.”

“Chicks?” As in multiple?

I looked over his shoulder to see whether she was alone, but it was dark and silent over there.

“Steph took Dita salsa dancing. Let me tell you, dude,” —he pushed his glasses up with a knuckle and nodded at the girl in the pool— “she’s got some moves.”

He whistled appreciatively as he nudged me in the ribs and returned outside.

I followed him, because it was eerily quiet. And while I had been less than keen on having a new stepsister in my house, I really wasn’t in the mood for dead people at the bottom of my pool either.

My heart slammed against my chest.

No corpse.

Just the new Cuban goddess-like stepsister.

She didn’t hear us approach. It was kind of religious experience watching an angelic Dita drifting on the surface. Her hair floated like a halo around her head, and with her eyes closed and a soft smile on her lips, she looked at peace.

There was no mistake this was the most gorgeous view this house had ever known. The moon cascaded beautifully onto the wavy water and captured her figure in the darkness. The outside lightning hadn’t been turned on, but there was still enough light to see she’d lost her clothes. The lingerie she wore left little to the imagination.

Fuuuck.

My dick hardened for the exact same reason it got it up for Keely—correction; should have hardened for Keely. I wasn’t even convinced I got it up at all.

Now, I had the real deal swimming right here in my pool, and the semi I’d sported for Keely turned into a full-on erection.

“Thank you for tonight, Misha,” Dita said absentmindedly, keeping her eyes closed and her breathing even. She didn’t acknowledge me while she spread her arms wide to keep her head above water. She probably had no clue I’d joined them.

Misha shrugged. “No biggie. Not. At. All.”

He punctuated those words with a fascination that transferred to his eyes. He looked at her as if she was a faerie warrior from his favorite game come to life.

I didn’t like it.

I cleared my throat and saw Dita’s surprise before she went underwater, arms flailing around her. “I think I can handle it from here. I’ll walk you out, Misha.”

Dita spat out water when she resurfaced. She moved soaked hair from her face while she kicked the water.

“Ares!”

It was like Dita’s internal warning bells had gone off. Exactly the way I liked it. The fists in my pockets relaxed.

“Double D,” I responded with a smirk.

She swam to the edge. “You can stay, Misha.”
