“Remington’s old house,” she said reluctantly. “My…house.”

“Oh. Why didn’t you just say that?” Without another word, Lyric walked across the room to kiss his wife before Violet could answer.

Luca grasped Vi’s chin and gently worked her bottom lip free of her sharp grip on it. “I’ll see you tonight at the house.”

I nudged Shaw. “Do I get to see you tonight?”

“And have both our moms freak out because the groom saw the bride before the wedding?” she asked loud enough for everyone in the room to hear her. “No way!” Throwing her arms around my neck, she touched her lips to my cheek and whispered, “I’ll be in the room we shared the last time we stayed at her house. Leave me hanging, and you’ll be spending our honeymoon with blue balls.”

Chapter 5

Shaw

The lights were turned down, and the sappy rom-com Violet had chosen to play for our little “girls’ night” had already begun. Everyone had their individual bowls of popcorn and Big Gulp-sized soft drinks in hand. The theater room was ginormous, so we were all spread out with our own blankets tucked in while we enjoyed a carefree few hours.

As girls’ nights went, it seemed a mixture of boring—and total perfection.

But I had other plans for the evening.

Mila and Violet had exited the darkened room, a few minutes spaced out between them so no one would notice. I was the last to leave, but when I glanced back at everyone, they were more into the movie than I originally expected. Their soft laughter reached my ears, and I smiled as I left them to it.

Vi grasped my wrist in one hand and Mila’s in the other, the three of us making a run for it as we rushed toward the door.

“Are you seriously leaving your own girls’ night?” a voice demanded as a shadow stepped in front of us, making Vi squeak in surprise. Mila and I stopped, both of us drawing up for a fight until we realized who it was.

“Damn it, Piper!” I whisper-shouted. “I nearly brained up.”

“Why are you leaving?” she asked, crossing her arms over her chest.

“We’re crashing guys’ night,” Vi told her with a shrug.

Piper’s gaze drifted over the three of us before she huffed. “That sounds less boring than watching that stupid movie.”

“Hey,” Violet pouted. “I love that movie.”

“You have poor taste in movies, Vi.” Piper didn’t try to sugarcoat anything. “But your heart was in the right place. Now, let’s go and crash the boys’ fun.”

Mila glanced at me over Violet’s head, her brows drawn together. Piper was too young to get into the club where the twins had taken Jagger, but I knew her too well. “Her fake ID looks more real than her driver’s license.”

“Of course it does,” Piper said with a roll of her eyes. “I only get the best, bitches.”

“Fine.” Mila gave in. “It’s not like I’m one to judge. I was underage in the club when I met Lyric.”

“Lyric said you were with a group of gangsters,” Violet tossed out as we climbed into the SUV where Jenner was already waiting.

Mila snickered. “Something like that. Oddly enough, I was crashing a guys’ night out then too. It was the night before Theo and Tavia got married. I ended up spending the night with Lyric and got pregnant.”

“No one better get pregnant tonight!” Vi said, pointing her finger at each of us, lingering longer on Piper than the rest of us.

“Maybe point the finger at yourself too.” Piper waggled her index finger in Vi’s face. “I don’t plan on hooking up with anyone at this guys’ thing. Seriously, the only single one there will be, who? Cannon?” She made a gagging noise. “No, thank you.”

“She’s right,” I agreed. “I don’t think we need to worry about Piper. It’s the rest of us who need to be careful we aren’t taking anything home but the men we love.”

“Come on. We have to make sure Cannon gets back safely too,” Vi defended. “He’s the best man tomorrow.”

“Luca can step into that spot instead,” I said with a shrug, only half joking. I loved my brother, and I would admit he’d calmed down a lot over the past few years, but part of me couldn’t help remembering what a dickhead he’d once been. That Violet was the one to defend him fucked with my head. She should have encouraged us to leave him behind.

The drive to the club took a little time, but with Jenner behind the wheel, no one felt uncomfortable. Once we reached our destination, we didn’t go in the front. Instead, Vi made a call, and the head of security at First Bass let us in the back.
