Belle’s eyes got huge, and she rubbed her arm in that area. Instead of being mad, she breathed out a sigh and nodded.

“Thank God you did that.”

“So, you don’t want me to remove it?”

“No. I’d probably be dead without it.”

Tension bled out of my shoulders as I relaxed. I was glad to know I’d have that peace of mind.

“If you ever want it removed, I’ll do it. No questions asked.”

The doctor came in and approached Fiona. He fiddled with some devices attached to her, taking her vitals again before stepping back out of the room.

I looked down at Belle’s bump. She was coming up on seven months pregnant and we still hadn’t picked out any names yet.

“What do you think we should call these kids?”

Belle looked thoughtful for a moment, then shook her head.

“I’ve got nothing.”

I pulled out my phone and pulled up a list of baby boy names. I started reading them off to her.

“Okay, let’s check out what’s popular,” I said. “Hudson.”

Belle raised her brows and scrunched her nose.

“Okay, that’s a no. How about Ezra?”

She giggled.

“No? What about Joseph?”

“Too biblical.”

“You’re going to be picky about this, aren’t you?” I asked, and she just smiled.

As we went through the list of names, Belle’s expressions ranged from delight to disgust. It was amusing to watch her make funny faces at the names she didn’t like. However, our lighthearted moment was interrupted by the sound of Fiona whimpering in her sleep. Belle immediately took hold of her sister’s hand and squeezed it, and Fiona’s distress seemed to ease as she settled back into a peaceful slumber.

“Can Fiona come stay at the castle?” Belle asked, her big brown pleading eyes on me.

“You don’t have to ask. It’s your castle too now. Any family of yours is family of mine.”

“I love you,” Belle said.

She pulled me down for a kiss, and I could tell she was trying to pour all of her emotions into it.

We’d just pulled away when there was a knock at the door. I called out, “Enter.”

Maxwell entered the room, his eyes immediately drawn to Fiona, and after a moment, he strode over to me.

“I’ve hired a new security company, experts in the field, with a state-of-the-art system. The installation will begin at the castle tomorrow.”

“Good,” I said.

“I informed Barclay of the new security installation.” Maxwell lowered his voice slightly as he continued. “I also armed him so that he can provide an extra layer of protection.”

Belle snorted. “Barclay? Armed? That old man?”
