“No, wait. What did youthinkI meant?”

Yeah, that blush was going nowhere.

“Come on, girl, spit it out.”

“It was just a little video of us…” I cleared my throat. “You know…”

“Fucking?”

I rolled my eyes. “Yes, Ally. Fucking.”

“Amazing. Gabe’s got some pics of me on his phone. I love to imagine him looking at them from time to time.”

“Well, yeah, sure. But this wasn’t on a phone. He didn’t film on his phone, I mean. Oh, except for one time when I—”

“Okay I am seriously loving this more and more, and your scarlet face is the cutest.”

“I think you should let me off the hook now.”

“No fucking way, sister. So, if you only used the phone one time, what did you use the two zillion other times?”

“Um, three cameras, two of them on tripods next to the bed and a mini one attached to the headboard.”

“Get the fuck out of here! Have you watched it?”

I was doomed to spend the rest of the day with a tomato red face. “Ahhh… Yeah, we did.”

“Was it super fucking hot? I’ll bet it was.”

“Uh huh. It really was.”

“I love how you have the face of an innocent angel, but the heart of a dirty little sinner. I’m totally here for it. Anything else about your extremely hot sex life you want to share with me?”

“Nope.” I popped my lips on the P to make it clear I was serious. There was no way I could let her know the video had been made while I was tied up, spreadeagled on Jake’s bed. That brought new meaning to the word overshare.

“Spoilsport.”

“Sorry not sorry.”

“Okay, so back to more serious topics. Emma Carter at a Cooper family dinner is a big fucking deal, isn’t it?”

“I guess.”

“You were looking pretty cozy.”

I couldn’t help myself. I flinched.

“Uh oh. Not cozy?”

I let out a sigh. “I don’t know. I just feel confused and overwhelmed, I guess. I can’t relax. Everything is so wonderful and good. I’m waiting for some bomb to be dropped on me.”

Ally frowned. “Okay, what’s that about?”

Jake’s face, the poison dripping from his lips.Get the fuck away from me.That’s what it was about. Okay, I was wrong. It seemed the knot hadn’t loosened enough. I needed to talk about this, work my way through it.

Deep breath.“I need to tell you about how we actually broke up.”

Her face serious, Ally pushed the plate of cheesecake to me. “Have some of this. You’re gonna need it.”
