“But how did you guys meet?” She slightly interrogates.

“Well, I’m a designer and I had an interview with this guy to work for his company and he turned out to be a creep. When I walked outside of the restaurant, Ru was there with Lily and that’s how we met.” I remember.

Of course, that’s not the first time we met, but it was the second time and that’s a better intro to our story in my head.

“She hit her head against the door and refused to go to the hospital.” Ru chuckles under his breath.

“Because, who the fuck goes to a hospital over a small cut?” I laugh.

“What if you had a concussion?” Ru retorts.

“Ru, that’s not how concussions work…” I mock.

Ru scoffs, “Oh I’m sorry Dr. Maxwell, I had no idea.”

“I could have been a doctor, smartass.” I roll my eyes, but he just warms my hand with his own and my smile sticks to my face.

We find ourselves laughing as if no one was around. These small, but relaxed moments are what truly give me peace. Ru makes me feel as if I don’t have to worry about anything else in the world. As if the only thing we need to do is enjoy the time we spend in each other’s arms.

As much as I hate to think about Greyson, I can’t help but compare my relationship with Greyson. In my relationship with Greyson, I always felt unsure of myself by his side. As if he was a man, I had no business standing next to, but with Ru, he shows me that there is no question that beside him is where I belong.

“It’s weird to see Wén in a relationship. I don’t think he’s ever had a girlfriend.” Vera comments.

Ru takes a peanut that’s on the coffee table and throws it at Vera, but she dodges it.

I look over at Ru confused. I know he’s slept with women, but has he never been in an actual relationship? “Never cared to be in a relationship before.” Ru answers honestly and it’s starting to feel like he’s being interviewed.

I bring his hand to my lips, “Do you want to dance?”

“Yes.” He breathes. “Excuse us.”

I escort him to the dance floor and wrap my arms around his neck. We sway to the music as I lay my head on his chest and smell the mixture of his cologne and natural scent.

“Taurus, I was thinking we should get away for a bit.” He suggests and I look up at him.

“You want Bryn to hate me?” I glare.

He chuckles and pushes my hair behind my ear. “Bryn approved.”

Confusion swarms through my head. “Where are we going?”

He doesn’t answer, he just smiles and says, “The trip is set for next week. Make sure you pack well.”

For the rest of the night Ru, Lily, Redd, and I spent substantial time discussing future projects.

The Next Day

With a little time before work, I run into the nearby shops to pick up a smoothie. I noticed there’s a for sale sign on a shop next to it that I had never realized was even there. After going in for my smoothie, I walk into the shop to see an old man sitting at the counter.

“Welcome!” He smiles brightly.

“Hello, are you selling your shop?” I ask.

He smiles a bit sadly, “I am, it’s time to sell.”

The shop was filled with little trinkets. “When did you open this shop?” I ask walking over to the counter.

“Well…let’s see here.” He thinks to himself. “About fifty years ago.” He answers.
