He looks at me, perplexed. “Strange, but…tasty.” He licks his lips before taking my hand and licking the butter off my pointer finger and thumb. He then cleans my fingers with a warm hand towel.

When we finished our meal. Kyro takes my hand and walks me outside the warehouse.

I look over at him confused, “Why are we outside?” I ask.

He stands behind me, and his hands are intertwined with my own. “Look up, Reyna.” He whispers into my neck.

I look up and see fireworks. “I know it doesn’t compare to the lights we saw in Korea, but…” He trails.

“No…this is beautiful. Thank you.” I turn around and pull him into a kiss. His toned arms wrapped around me as they gently held me in place.

“There’s nothing I wouldn’t do to make you happy.” These sweet words I get from him lighten my heart every time.

Kyro

Her brown eyes twinkled with joy as she smiled, the moonlight and fireworks illuminating her soft, warm, delicate brown skin. Everything seems to have fallen into place; this moment is too perfect. These fireworks are but the spotlight for my radiant wife.

My phone rings. “His daughter sold him out. It’s all over the news.” One of my men tells me on the phone.

Maeve came to her disgusting father’s rescue. Well, a deal is a deal. I’ll let this pig live for now. This might be better in the end. He was willing to die so the truth wouldn’t come out, but living with everyone knowing, now that’s true torture for this pig.

“No torturing today,” I tell Reyna as I hang up the phone.

Her eyes darted back and forth, searching for answers. “What happened?”

“Maeve turned him in. The cops are probably looking for him.” I am a bit upset that I won’t have someone to pick apart today.

Reyna noticed and kissed me again. “Don’t worry, there’s always more horrible people you can torture. This city never runs out.”

I smile and lean my forehead against hers. “You’re right. Besides, we still must deal with Irish pigs.”

“Yes…we do.” She sighs.

“But it can wait till tomorrow,” I say, running back into the warehouse and coming out with a blanket. I set the blanket on the floor, and we lie next to one another as the fireworks continue.

“Hey, Kyro?” She starts up.

I look over at her. “Yes?”

“What did you first think about me when you saw me for the first time?” Her eyes waited patiently for my response.

I exhale, “Well, the first time I saw you in person was after Ivan passed. The first thing I thought was ‘Wow, she’s chubby’.” I laugh.

She slaps my chest. “And what about it?” She growls.

I grabbed her hand and rubbed it with my thumb. “Nothing. I didn’t mean it in a bad way. You were just not what I expected. Maeve is more his type; tall, skinny, and blonde. So, when I saw a short, curvy girl with all dark features, it was surprising, but it didn’t take me long to figure out why he loved you so much. There’s so much about you to love, not just your tantalizing curves and beautiful face. I know from experience.”

Reyna is much more. Much more than anything I could have ever imagined. I will always treasure what we have together, even if it is short-lived.

With hesitant hands, Reyna pushes a strand of my hair back and looks into my eyes with her shiny brown ones. “There’s so much about you to love, too. You’re a good husband, father, and most importantly an amazing friend. Ivan knew your heart and for that, I’m thankful that he chose you to watch over us.”

“And I’ll keep doing it, even after I die. Haunting the next man who dares put a smile on your face. I’ll haunt him until he goes insane.”

Reyna snorts, “Monster.” She has no idea.

“A monster protecting what’s his.” I reiterate. “And you are most definitelymine.”

I don’t think I have ever looked up and the sky before. Just looked and had someone lying next to me. Even though I wouldn’t be able to kill that pedophile, nothing beats looking at Reyna’s smile as she watches the fireworks. Nothing.
