A lot.

We visited at least once a month if not more, and while I could never replace those brothers I had there, it felt good to know I had brothers here too. Men who would always have my back, who would look out for my woman, and who I could rely on to be there when things turned to shit.

My connection to the club was still as strong as ever.

It would always be, and the fact I questioned that at some point was honestly crazy.

“Sorry I’m late. Did I miss it,” Eden asked loudly, running into the Line, her eyes looking around frantically until they landed on Cassie, whose mouth was open wide at the sight of her sister strolling through the door. “I’m thinking that means I didn’t,” she muttered, glancing to me with a look of horror on her face.

I couldn’t help but laugh, Cassie was just standing there with her mouth hanging open. “The hell are you doing here?”

“Um…” Eden looked to her sister then back to me.

Well, there was no fucking around now.

“Come on,” I told Cassie, pulling her with me toward the dance floor. “I asked my dad about what it was that my mom loved,” I explained as we stepped out into the middle of this space where people liked to get down. Obviously, not right now as it was still only about ten in the morning, but tonight it would be full of shaking and grinding.

I wrapped my arm around her waist and though no music played, she smiled this sweet smile that I’d never in my fucking life get enough of. “That’s awesome. What was it?”

Dad placed the box down on the desk, and it instantly felt familiar.

“Her dad said it was some kind of hippy phase,” Dad explained, shaking his head like he knew better. “Always berating her for what he called her stupid rocks.”

When I stepped forward, I saw just how full the box was.

Crystals.

It was full of these sparkling, amazing, colorful crystals.

“She believed she was meant to use them to help people,” Dad explained. “But she was never given the chance to share… I guess what she called a gift.”

She never got to share her passion.

“You think I could have one?”

“Let me show you,” I said, pulling something from my pocket and immediately dropping it on the floor. “Dammit.”

I bent down to pick it up, flicking the lid open as I did and flashing it up at Cassie as I kneeled before her.

Her mouth dropped open, her eyes flicking from me to the ring then back to me.

“Cassidy Thomas,” I announced loudly, the instant hush of my friends’ voices letting me know everyone was watching. Waiting. “Will you marry me?”

“For real?” she questioned, letting out a soft shakey laugh.

I couldn’t help but smile. “Yeah, this time, for real.”

“Then hell, yes.”

There was no pause or second-guessing.

We both knew.

Frankly, as far as I was concerned, the first time I proposed, she was mine.

Fake or not.

This was just more like the official version where our friends and family got to celebrate with us. And so I could give her this. I stood up and took the ring from the box, tossing the box over my shoulder.
