“Yes, Princess.”

“I need to go.”

“So do I.”

Still, she stood the way she was, silently, not moving, as if she too was under his thrall, just like he was under hers. He lowered his face to the side of her throat, inhaling her scent. Tangerine and leather. Delicious and divine. He finally knew what she smelled like. He caressed her cheek with the back of his hand. Silk, her skin was smooth as the finest silk. Her head shifted to the side, tempting him to stroke lower. Instead, he rubbed his nose down the side of her throat. A moan escaped her mouth, the sound inviting him in further. That day, he’d denied himself the taste of her mouth; now, he wouldn’t. He lifted her jaw with a hand and lowered his mouth.

The door rustled in front of him. Releasing her, he took two steps back. Light filtered in from outside, and Ananya popped her head in. She glanced from him to Sheena and back at him, her eyes wide, probing. There would be a hundred questions she’d have for him later.

He moved forward. Sheena followed him until they were all outside in the corridor under the lights again.

He addressed his sister. “Ananya, this is Sheena Sehgal.”

“This is my sister, Ananya,” he told Sheena. “You met her earlier. She was in charge of this event today. She’s a freelance journalist, and she handles our small but impactful social-media department.”

Ananya smiled at her. “Sorry, I had to stop you earlier. But Rajiv is quite strict about privacy and security.”

Sheena lowered her head. “No worries. I understand.”

“Miss Sehgal is will be working with Professor Shetty for a few months,” Rajiv explained the situation to his sister. “Please exchange your contact details with her and have someone text her the location of the office and whom to meet when she reports on Monday to work.”

Ananya narrowed her eyes at him. His sister wasn’t his secretary nor his personal assistant, and he was aware she’d give him grief about this in private. However, he knew that if he took Sheena’s number, then he’d be tempted to get in touch with her. To check on her, to see what she was doing. Maybe even ask her out. A wave of possibilities opened up if he had her number, and that’s why he didn’t take it.

He looked at Sheena. “I will see you on Monday.”

She frowned, her eyes swirling with questions. He was questioning himself, too. He walked away from her, leaving her with Ananya.

But his mind wouldn’t stop painting her picture in his head. What was it about Sheena that made him lose his mind whenever she was near?! Thank God his sister had come when she had, or else he would have crossed a line, one which he ought to never consider crossing with her. She was Sheena Sehgal. Their mothers were friends. Her grandfather, brother, and cousins were powerful men in their own right. She wasn’t someone he could trifle with.

He sighed. She wasn’t for him, he repeated to himself. Yet, her temptation remained. He shouldn’t have agreed to her working in his office. But now that he had, he’d ensure he stayed far away from her sphere because he knew without a doubt that the more he met her, the more tempted he would be.

Temptation, for him, had a new name. It was Sheena Sehgal.

Fuck.

She was crazy to have agreed to this. Her nerves jumped, and a shudder ran through her as the car sped in the direction of Dubai’s Bay Estate. Why? Oh, why had she allowed her mother to convince her to come with her to this event tonight? Her mom had arrived in Dubai earlier that morning, bearing wide smiles and warm hugs for her. Apparently, she wanted to see for herself if Sheena was settled. And, of course, her mother had to attend this event tonight, which was being held athishouse.Hishouse. God. What had she been thinking about to agree to this?

After her last encounter with Rajiv Mehra, she ought to be staying far away from him, not walking into his personal den like she was. But like a fool, she’d allowed her mother to talk her into this, and truth be told, she’d never been able to say no to her mom. But as the car crossed the first barrier and entered into Bay Estate, she could no longer deny the frantic beating of her heart, the hectic flush of her skin, or the tingle in her spine.

She crossed several high-end mansions with acres of land around them, each of them located a good distance from one another, granting much-needed privacy to each of their owners. Bay Estate in Dubai was far, like a good forty-five minutes from the main city, but with its high-security detail, perfectly manicured gardens and sidewalks, it looked to be a very popular residential area. She breathed in and out. Just a few more minutes, and she’d be meeting him again.

Rajiv Mehra. Even saying his name in her head made her breathing quicken. He was…God, he was too much. Their last encounter flashed through her mind. So easily he’d caged her against the lift wall. So readily she’d fallen against his chest when the banquet hall lights had gone off. And he… She shivered. He’d run his nose down her throat, breathing her in, as if memorizing her scent. In that moment, every single thought had flown from her head. She’d become consumed by him and the need he was waking up inside her. In that moment, all she’d wanted was to wrap her arms around him, press her body closer, and slam her lips against his. And she would have acted on that impulse. Had his sister not interrupted them, she would have done something she’d forever regret.

Rajiv Mehra was an arrogant jerk. She didn’t even like him, yet she was drawn to him in a way she hadn’t been drawn to another man in a very long time. Several times now, she’d fantasized about the feel of his mouth on her own—about how it would feel if his mouth grazed down her skin. Her face flushed and she had to stop from fanning herself. She couldn’t and wouldn’t arouse her mom’s suspicions. However, the truth was that Rajiv Mehra was awakening a deep ache inside her, and with every new encounter with him, that ache was only intensifying, needing satiation.

Despite knowing all this, and having accepted it, she was still going to his home. God. She was, indeed, an idiot of the first order.

Her mom touched her thigh. “Sheena, you’ve not heard a thing I’ve said.”

“I’m thinking, Mom.”

“About?”

Sheena pursed her lips. “About the fact that I’ve barely been here for three days, and you show up, unannounced. Not only that, you’ve forced me to attend a Dubai society event with you. Have you considered that one of the reasons I came here wastoescapeyourevents? And here I am going for yet another party I don’t want to go to.”

Mina Sehgal grinned, looking absolutely unrepentant. “You’re lucky it’s just me here. Kabier wanted to fly out from London to check on you, you know.”
