Now, she was everything, and I was alive.

I was alive, and I could feel her with me. She resided in my mind, tied to me by the bite she’d left me with, an ache upon flesh I hadn’t even felt until her teeth had sunk in.

Only… I was restless.

She was upset. So, so upset. This plane I existed in, these bonds, they were the only reality I could hold onto. I felt every shift, every echo and movement.

And then…

She was leaving us…

I didn’t want her to, but she’d begged me to let her go. She’d been so afraid, but she’d promised to come back.

She’dpromised.

She was my angel, I knew she would, but I still felt her every step of the way as she left. She was devastated, anxious, on the verge of cracking.

I started to worry.

How… long had passed?

I fought again to surface.

Come back…

I clenched a fist, flesh connecting with my mind again.

Real.

Controlled.

Body and mind truly finding one another for the first time.

Not enough.

How long had passed?

Her hope vanished.

It was her wash of terror, in the end, that saved me. A tide of fear and pain that shot through our connection like a lightning bolt.

My angel…

I fought to wake, fear gripping me. Ihadto wake. I had to go after her… The walls that had held me hostage for so long, shattered.

I staggered to my feet, the world crashing in around me. My life was above, and one piece at a time it was crashing through a broken ceiling, breaking across the floor, out of order, and out of place.

I knew only one thing, absolutely.

She was in trouble.

Weak palms flattened against the wall as I dragged myself to the door. Then I was outside, staggering to the hallway.

I was so weak. I’d missed so much.

Again.

They were both there, both my brothers in the room beyond.
