Page 45 of Destined for Him

Oh yes. I’ve seen ALL of him.

Sweat trickles down my back despite the chilly AC. I could tell Ivy, and she would be reasonable about it all, but only if there was more to it than what it was.

A seedy fuck.

My cheeks flame, and she doesn’t miss it.

“Oh God, you still like him, don’t you?”

I’m probably puce now.Look at Shelby, the aubergine!

“Um,” I say. “Not really. I’ve sworn off men.”

Ivy nods, poking the straw around her glass.

“After what you’ve been through with Finlay? I don’t blame you.”

I’m tempted to tell her about Tommy’s little shit show at the car, but she’s more interested in Finlay.

“So he’s stalking you?”

“Only via text and calls,” I say with a shrug. “He’s not tracking me or anything ridiculous.”

“So? Don’t be so dismissive,” Ivy warns. “I don’t like how he’s been acting to you. Maybe we can get my dad to knock him out or get the message through.”

Ivy looks hopeful, and for a second, I’m transported back to our scheming as teenagers.

“I’m not worried about Finlay,” I say. “Anyway, I’m here now. Let’s talk about you and that gorgeous little family of yours. Is Griffin still the hottest DILF around?”

Ivy smirks.

“The teachers at Melody’s school aresodisappointed he doesn’t take her to school or pick her up. They love parents’ evenings.”

Griffin is Kevin’s best friend, and he isgorgeous. He’s also obsessed with Ivy, and as if on cue, her phone lights up, as does her face.

“Baby!” Ivy gushes, smiling into the phone. “I know, me too.”

I shift on my seat as they gush over one another a while longer, then she nods.

“She’s here now! We dropped her stuff into the apartment and came to get milkshakes.”

She rolls her eyes and makes a face at me.

“She didn’t want hers.”

She pouts, and I hear Griffin chuckling down the phone.

“I’m going to order Chinese food. Shelby loves Chinese—what?”

She looks excited, her eyes sparkling as she closes her fist, bringing it to her lips.

“Ilovesurprises! What time will you be back?”

I tune out, choosing to people-watch instead.

Everyone looks so busy here—like they’re all late for the same appointment.

“So Melody is at her gran’s for the weekend, but we can pick her up from school Monday,” Ivy says, putting her phone away.
