“No,” I say. I take a half step back and take her face in my hands. “It makes us people who are willing to come out the other side of all this as better people. We’ll never look at the world in the same way again. We’ll never take any of it for granted. It makes us people who can look at the future despite the past and still see the possibilities. It makes us people who will take every day as the gift it is.”
“As long as you and I are together each and every one of those days.” She presses her lips to mine.
“Always,” I reply.
“Never apart,” we say together.
