“Like you.” Huck snagged a kiss, loving how much easier it was now to initiate physical contact. They got settled back in bed together while Grant got the show going.

Even though Huck was thrilled to watch more zombies and hang out with Grant again, his mind kept wandering back to the weird stories about the Thing in the Eastern Stairs. To think it was some sort of evil god that had been possibly worshiped by a cult made it infinitely creepier, and he was worried Grant’s curiosity would get the better of him.

And not just him, but the others here too, like Finn and Cary.

Huck didn’t want anyone else to get hurt…

Or worse.

Grant fell asleep in the middle of the next episode, and Huck let himself lose time for a bit while they cuddled. It actually did feel like he was snoozing too, and he felt himself waking up with a start before he remembered where he was.

Right, in Grant’s bed.

Wonderful, handsome, kind Grant.

“Morning,” Grant mumbled drowsily.

“Good morning.” Huck kissed Grant’s lips, pleased that he was able to do it much more easily than before. It was nearly effortless now. “Sleep good?”

“Mm, yeah. Very, very good.” Grant peeked open an eye. “We didn’t get very far, did we?”

“Nope. Once you fell asleep, the app stopped playing episodes after a while, so I just hung out. Oh, and I thought about something. About last night.”

“What?” Grant’s brow wrinkled up. “Are you worried we went too far? Because I feel fine. Seriously. Like, so very good.”

“No, nothing like that. I think we went just the right amount.” Huck comforted Grant with a sweet kiss, and it was easy to forget what he had been about to say because those lips were so soft and warm, and Grant was still very naked—

“Huck?” Grant mumbled.

“Right! Sorry.” Huck cleared his throat. “Janice. I ran into her last night before our date, and she was on the phone talking to someone. I don’t know who, but it seemed like a super important call, and she was trying to be sneaky. She, uh, was very definitely talking about getting you fired.”

“That bitch! Again?” Grant groaned.

“Again?”

“She hates me because she thinks I’m dead weight. She tried to get me fired when she first took over as the producer, but Finn and Cary and everybody pretty much delivered a unanimous fuck you to her and the show executives. They threatened to walk if I didn’t stay on.”

“That’s very cool of them.”

“Yeah, they’re awesome.” Grant rubbed at his eyes and yawned. “Mm, I’m gonna have to tell them about this.”

“Are they gonna believe you when you tell them you heard it from a ghost?”

Grant smirked. “Yes.”

“Okay, well, there’s something else.” Huck frowned. “So, maybe I messed with her a tiny bit because she said all that stuff about firing you—”

“Huck,” Grant scolded, though he was smiling.

“Hey, she deserves a lot worse than what I did. I was just trying to scare her a little! But she didn’t get scared. This is the weird part. She looked around like she was expecting someone and called them sir.”

“She wasn’t talking to the person on the phone?”

“No, I’d totally knocked the phone out of her hand.”

“That’s… odd. I am not quite awake enough to process that, but I am definitely gonna talk to Finn and Cary about it.” Grant grinned. “And you know, I need to talk to them anyway about a certain little hotel manager.”

“Never did find out if Myrna got to Finn’s room, huh?”
