Dita fit here perfectly.

Once she started dancing, her hips defied every bass drop there was. I was already sweating and hadn’t even spotted her yet. I roamed the space and found it difficult to identify one of the girls.

My heart slammed in my chest. If she belonged to any of those dancing couples, I was probably going to lose my mind.

No, not probably. I already had.

I followed the guys absentmindedly to the bar while searching for the Latina. They pushed a drink in my hand. One sip said it was a sweet beer. I didn’t check the label, or watch whatever the bartenders were pouring. Only thing it did was hydrate my dry throat.

A redhead wrung herself from between the mass.

Steph waved and smiled. Did she really have no clue what had happened between me and Dita?

She walked over, dismissing me and practically installing herself on Misha’s lap, who’d settled on a barstool. He happily roamed his hands over her hips. I guess not, or she would’ve pointed out I was a major jerk by now.

“I thought you weren’t coming,” Steph said, before slurping on the straw of her drink.

“Babe, if there’s anyone right for you to rub against, it would be me,” Misha teased.

For a fleeting second, something in Steph’s eyes changed. A look of hunger she tried to mask. Kind of like the same way Dita used to look at me. And I briefly wondered if it had been real. Misha and Steph were just friends. Best friends. An unanswered love.

Suddenly, the beer tasted sour. Could it be that Dita had ridden my dick so fucking heavenly because it was convenient?

No, no way.

I could still feel her. I didn’t need to close my eyes or anything sappy to instigate that feeling either. She was enrooted in my blood, my mind, and my soul. I hummed from the inside with the hopes of being connected with her once again. No one could convince me that she wasn’t made for me.

As if on cue, I zoned in on a couple. They were surrounded by others, but the pull to look at her was indescribable. I had to. I was enthralled with her. There was no other word to explain.

The rhythm she swayed to was as if it was composed for her. Long, dark hair cascaded down her back, swishing along. The way her hips dipped and rolled was way too familiar. The hands on them, not so fucking much.

My stomach knotted.

I didn’t need to see her face to realize I was looking at my girl. Even though she and I had things to talk through, and I admitted I’d been in the wrong, she didn’t belong in anyone’s arms but mine.

The guy’s hands wandered, enjoying her too much with his big greedy hands.

I felt a small pull at the back of my shirt, but I had my feet moving already. Whoever felt the need to stop me, better watch out.

No idea if she sensed my approach, or if it was because of the dude jerking away from her, but her movements slowed. I couldn’t see her facial expression, and it was better that way. If she knew it was me, she’d probably be disappointed. I’d worked so hard being wanted by her, I’d be devastated to see her wear the look.

Dita reached for the guy, who held her by the elbows, unaware of someone approaching her. I’m sure my smile was sinister and freaked him a little bit, but I was glad it didn’t scare him off. Dita needed people to care for her.

She stiffened when I bumped her back, wrapped a hand around her neck and nudged her head back against my chest. My lips found the shell of her ear. “You’re having so much fun without me, sweetness.”

Knowing she’d try to escape, I banded one arm around her waist. I nodded my chin at the guy to beat it, but to my aggravation, he stayed.

“You know him?” he asked Dita.

I held her in a vulnerable position, one where she couldn’t possibly be able to see who I was. And man, my insides fucking fluttered when she responded, “Yes.”

“Wrong ends of the magnet? Liar.” I nipped her lobe.

The guy crowded her and leaned in. He talked loud enough so I could hear. “He looks like he just escaped the mental ward.”

I chuckled. “I escaped for the night.”

“More like they were tired of your bullshit and kicked you out.” Dita’s hands came up my wrists. “Can’t a girl have one evening to herself?”
