“Come on,man, you’ll get to see her again soon,” Maddox said.

Gator had his head hanging and shoulders slumped as he walked back to the stage to get the last of the equipment. “Yeah, but the way she looked at me…”

“Well, she probably didn’t know how to react when she was about to suck face with the kid she used to mind.”

“She didn’t even recognize me till then. How the fuck can she get a vision of me back then confused with this?” He held out his hands and raised his eyebrows.

“You do kinda look like a kid sometimes,” Maddox said.

Gator gave Maddox a whack on the shoulder. “Fuck you, man!”

Maddox laughed. “I’m not sure I can lug all that equipment now. You’ve damaged my arm.” Gator laughed. “Hey, what was it like to have all those women screaming at you on the stage?”

“Yeah…screaming for me to get off. You should have seen the way Sylvie went gooey when Case hauled her up. I reckon she’d’ve slipped her tongue down his throat even if she’d babysat him when he was a kid.”

“You gotta admit…he’s pretty,” Maddox said.

Gator gave him a dirty look and shook his head.

“Hey, guys.” It was Kyle. “Thanks for today. Best concert I’ve had in ages. You got them going with your performance, Gator.”

Gator and Maddox laughed. “Any time,” Gator said.

“You’ll get her,” Kyle said.

“Yeah, I’m not so sure,” Gator said.

“I’m sure. I could see the way she looked at you. I thought you two were on the way back to my bus for some fun.”

Gator looked embarrassed. “Sorry, man. I was going to show her which bus was yours, but I’d never do that. Doubt I’ll be seeing much of her again though. She’s a bit older than me and that seems to be a problem.”

Kyle laughed.

“What?” Gator asked.

“A woman who doesn’t want to be with a good-looking, younger hunk. I shouldn’t think so,” Kyle said.

“Good-looking!” Maddox said. “You might be able to sing but your sight is clearly in need of some help.”

“Hey, guys. How about when you’re done, you come back to my bus for some beers,” Kyle said.

“You don’t have plans?” Maddox asked. “No ladies waiting in line?”

“I’ve only got one lady in my line, Maddox, and she’s back in New York with our boy. I don’t travel much these days but when I do, I can’t wait to get back to them.”

Maddox was nodding his head. “Yeah…I’m kinda like that and I’m never far from home or my old lady.”

“Give her a call and get her over,” Kyle said.

“You sure?” Maddox asked.

“Yeah. We’ll see if we can all help this poor soul out.” Kyle tipped his head towards Gator, who had a grin on his face now.

Later that afternoon, Kyle and a couple of his roadies entertained Maddox and Carmella, and Gator entertained a NOLA Blonde…the beer. By the end of the night, they’d all convinced him that he needed to go after Sylvie, even though he’d said she was married. The guy she was with was abusive by the sounds of it, so they all agreed he didn’t deserve her…or any other woman.

It was Gator’s duty to save her.
