I shrugged my shoulders, trying to show her I didn’t care about her family history but really I wanted to get to Jolie before they talked her into marrying that loser. I wasn’t going to lose my new pet that easily.

“Was there anything else, Rose?”

“I could give you something.”

I realized what she was saying just as she unclipped her jacket belt and the sides fell open to reveal a lace bra and matching lace underwear that showed me just how bare she was down there. Any red-blooded male would be instantly distracted and all blood would be traveling down south. Rose was sexy, there was no doubt, but she was a far cry from Jolie.

And it appeared my cock was only going to rise for the younger Caldwell.

“Really?” she pulled the sides of her jacket closed, in anger. “I’m not young enough for you?”

“I know what I want, Rose. If you hadn’t been such a tease, I probably would never have even noticed your little cousin.”

“Right,” she replied. “Tyler won’t allow you to be with her, you know. Those two are particularly close and believe me, you don’t need any more beef with my brother. He will kill you.”

“I’m not afraid of Tyler,” I told her. “If I had been, do you think I would have risked it all with you?”

“I know that you can’t risk a war now, Roman,” she said, her tone deathly serious. “It will ruin all of your plans.”

The threat rang loud in my ears. She knew exactly what threatening me would get her. A bullet in the head normally but I liked her.

I liked her spunk.

I didn’t love the woman, and she knew that.

I closed the distance between us and shoved her against the wall, my hand on her throat, squeezing slightly, just enough for her to really freak out. Her hands went to mine to pull them off her.

“Do you really think threatening me is smart right now?”

“Please, Roman, you can do what you want to me, I’m giving you free rein. Leave my little cousin alone.”

“Get out,” I said, through gritted teeth. I let her go and she ran for the door, fear all over her face as it should have been. “And don’t be coming over to this side of the city again.”

She paused at the door, looking back at me with tears in her eyes. She probably thought I’d never lay an angry hand on her. Personally, I wasn’t one to beat women and I doubt I would have done it to her but if she pushed me far enough, who knew what I was capable of.

She was now the second person who had warned me to steer clear of the girl. No one fucking told me what to do.

For all of their hard work, it was doing the opposite to what they hoped to achieve.

I was even more determined to get Jolie in my bed than ever.

Chapter Five

Jolie

I double checked my hair and mascara in the reflection of the window of the cafe near the club. It was dicey being here, on the Moreno side of the city, without anyone to back me up but I was desperate to see Roman again. I’d been kept busy for the last day, and Rose was all but making sure I was being involved in some stupid ball they were throwing for Paul.

Personally, I thought he was the most boring man I had ever met. He was quite obviously only wanting to marry me because my father had the power he wanted, and well, he wanted someone young. He was probably trying to satisfy some paedophilic feelings he was ashamed of and thought he could do it by bedding me early.

I wasn’t so easily bought.

Not when I had Roman Moreno to hunt down and have my way with.

I couldn’t understand it but I had to have him.

His club was pumping already, a huge line outside waiting to get in but I remembered the doorman from when Rose brought me here the other night.

He saw me and quickly opened the door much to the horror of those in the line. I winked at him quickly before I headed in, the music was loud, and felt like it was vibrating through my shoes. The club was packed already, people on the dancefloor, around the bar and on the balcony above me. I looked everywhere for Roman but I didn’t even know if he was going to be here tonight.
