“Pick up the fucking gun and do it before I get really tired of all of this and just shoot us all!” Fiona screamed so loud I had hope someone upstairs might have overheard. She stood over Declan and pointed her gun at him as she glared at me pointedly. I considered pointing the revolver at her and hoping the next shot would be a real one, but knew if it wasn’t she could kill Declan.

“Blake?” Declan called out, but the word was slightly slurred and he sounded out of it, which terrified me. How long had we been down here? How long before Luca came searching for us?

“Do it right now Blake!” Fiona screamed.

I knew I had no choice. Help wasn’t coming in time and I couldn’t risk the crazy bitch shooting Declan before moving onto me and then herself. Risking this crazy game once again was the best chance I had at keeping Declan and I alive. I just prayed luck would once again be on my side.

CHAPTER 25

TOM

“I’m really not sure Blake is going to appreciate us interrupting her physio session,” Liam sighed as we climbed out of his truck and walked side by side towards Dec’s gym. “You know how seriously she takes these sessions.”

“We won’t be long. I just want to see her for a few minutes,” I sighed. We had intended to be home to see her at dinner that night, especially after we had missed the evening with her completely the day before, due to a client meeting going on way later than it should have. But we had just had a call from a huge potential client we were trying hard to secure, that he wanted us at a benefit he was throwing in the city that night.

Max Crispin was a high profile business man who had amassed his fortune in technology at an early age. He was also somewhat of a philanthropist and had dedicated a huge sum of money for building youth projects across the city. We were hoping to secure the contract to build the centres he had planned and so far, we had created a good rapport with the guy. Being invited to this benefit was huge and a great sign. We had no choice but to attend.

But that would mean another full day without seeing or feeling Blake in my arms and I couldn’t handle that. That was why we were there, doing something we would never normally do – interrupting her physio session. It was the only window we had to see her though.

“I still don’t see why we can’t bring her to the benefit with us,” Liam said as we made our way through the automatic doors of the gym.

“Because the invite didn’t say we could bring anyone, and even if it did, a crowded party like that, filled with strangers is too much for Blake right now. She’s not ready for that,” I explained.

“I just hate how little we’ve seen her lately. She’s living in our place. We should see her all the damned time!”

“I know, but we’ve been busy. We can’t turn the work away, bro. You know that. Not when we’re finally getting somewhere. Just keep thinking about the future we can give Blake when the company is flying high.”

“You’re right,” he agreed as we walked in and towards Luca, who was standing alert and ready for anything, as always, in the reception area.

“Hey man,” I greeted.

“Hi. What brings you two here? Blake’s still in her session with Declan,” he explained.

“We know, but we need to see her. Is she almost finished?” Liam asked.

“She usually does about ninety minutes so I’d say she has another thirty,” he said as he glanced at his watch.

“We’ll head on in then. We don’t have much time,” I told him and he just nodded in agreement as he stepped back again.

“Do you think….” Whatever Liam was about to ask me was cut off by a loud, resounding bang. It had us both stopping in place to look around us.

“Move!” Luca yelled as he came barrelling towards us, Lewis, one of the other security guys, right behind him.

“What was that?” I gasped as I looked to my brother with a sense of dread.

“It was a gunshot!” Luca yelled as he and Lewis sprinted past us.

“Fuck! Blake!” Liam yelled as he set off right after them, and I followed too.

The whole way through the gym, all I could do was pray, wish, and hope with every single fibre of my being, that Blake was alright, because losing her was not a fucking option. I needed her more than I needed air to breathe. We all did. She was a part of us, and if anything had happened to her, not one of the people who loved her, was ever going to be whole again.
