He is bound by rules. She is bound in iron.
Together, they will shatter it all.

Xander is no stranger to pretending. Forced to serve in the King’s Guard since childhood, he has been bound to the mortal ruler for most of his life. But behind his false loyalty to the king, and hidden within secret rooms of the castle, a rebellion grows. One Xander is the leader of. His plans, however, are halted when a woman is brought to the dungeon. With knowledge of the escaped mortal princess which Xander needs to help his resistance, he makes it his mission to interrogate her. But the woman might hold more secrets than Xander himself, and in order for her to trust him, he is going to have to break the rules he’s carefully crafted. Ones that were meant to protect more than just the resistance.

Siyala Hoku has been running from her past for years, but she never thought that when she finally got a taste of freedom again, it would quickly be replaced by stone walls and iron bars. Now locked in a dungeon cell beneath the Mortal Kingdom’s castle, Siyala knows that she must escape if she is to keep what she values most safe. But the guard sent to get information from her isn’t as he seems, and when Siyala devises a plan to trick him into helping her, she convinces herself that sacrificing him is worth her freedom.

With so much at stake between the two of them, Xander and Siyala must decide if their secrets should remain hidden, or if the forbidden feelings growing between them are worth shattering everything for.
